Defense looks great, Quarterbacking doesn't

Question for the Clausen fan boys. What the f**k has he done in the NFL? Absolutely nothing. End of discussion. Im glad we got 2 good QBs right now, but only 1 of them has done something in the NFL with good numbers and good win/loss record while the other one hasn't done a damn thing yet.

Anyone who has ever watched a rookie start his first season in the NFL should have better sense. I sincerely wonder if some of the people on this board watch football sometimes.

It is such a small sample ( 8 games ), that it doesn't really mean much other than he is the starter heading into this season. If he turns out to be nothing more than mediocre like I believe most of you will start heading toward the Clausen bandwagon. I just feel like Moore isn't going to be a Panther at the end of this season one way or the other.

If he has a great season the front office won't want to pay him all that money that starters make and he will leave to go QB in Buffalo or Cleveland. If he sucks, then we won't have a need to keep him around building up hostility for Clausen getting the gig next year when we just drafted Pike and Cantwell won't be going anywhere.

If Moore struggles and plays like a rookie, you might as well play the rookie and let him learn on the job.

And you mean if anyone has ever watched older rookies start should have a better sense. Recent rookies don't seem to have the win/loss struggles of past years rookies. People like Vince Young, Big Ben, Flacco, Sanchez and so on have had winning seasons as rookies. Both Mannings learned on the job and their teams are better for it. It isn't as if all rookie QBs are bad, it varies from person to person, it isn't law.

It's because in the last couple of years a few rookies have actually done very well for themselves. So that is the reason. Who cares about the overall outlook of rookies who start and fail. Lets just look at Ryan and Flacco and Sanchez. And Ryan is the only one who looked very good, the others have had a running game and a defence keeping them in the game. Wow, kind of like what we have going on... Moore will be just fine and Clausen can sit and maybe, just maybe he will be the next Rodgers. But he has to sit first.

8 games is plenty to tell that he can get the job done. What else are you people going to come up with to discredit what he's done?

I have said all I needed to say about him. He truly only had 1 real good game. He wasn't playing top defenses and in 1 of his 3 TD games, he fumbled twice. Not that impressive. Yeah he went 6-2, and he had the help of 2 RBs becoming the first tandem ever to rush for 1100+ each last season. Do you honestly think they repeat that? Probably not.

He outplayed Eli Manning, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady is 3 consecutive weeks. He had 8 TDs and 0 INTs in a 4 week span. He played against the Vikings D, Giants D, Pats D, and Saints D. All considered good to really good defenses, especially the Vikings and Giants. Anything else you want to pull out of your ass?

Ryan was a fluke. Flacco and Sanchez had winning seasons despite their QB play because they had great running and defense. Answer me this; how many rookie QB's have led their team past the first round of the playoffs in the past twenty years? Off the top of my head I can only think of 4. Thats not a very good percentage.

Guys it isn't about Moore vs Clausen anymore. Our offense has not scored a single touchdown. There is no more excuses. Very few should feel secure in starting jobs at this point and that includes the quarterback and receivers.

Talk about pulling things out of their ass. The New York Giants gave up the second most passing touchdowns in all of football. Only the Lions were worse!

The Vikings also gave up the 10th most touchdowns in all of football through the air. That isn't elite. That isn't good. In the Vikings game he also fumbled twice, right? Why is it everyone who brings that game up never talks about how he fumbled twice? So his two best passing games were against the second worst and 10th worst passing defenses in the league in terms of touchdowns. That isn't impressive.

Patriots were tied for 11th worst in the league. The only one I will agree was a good passing effort against a good passing defense was the Saints. They caused many turnovers and didn't give up many passing scores.

He had one TD against the Saints.

But, Mr.PullStatsOutOfTheAss, only the Saints of the four teams he played against were good against the pass. Look at it objectively next time.

How many have done it the past few years? You still thinking of those same four? I keep saying the recent rookies haven't been victimized by the same issues of the QBs in years past.

Flacco, Roethlisberger and Sanchez all off the top of my head. Point is, if Moore doesn't look like he is going to lead us to the playoffs, and past the first round, why not let the rookie get some snaps? Lets be honest, do you really think Moore is taking us past the first round this season?

This week or all season? This week, I'd say tree fiddy. For the season....uuuummm I can't count that high.

Every 8 hours there is a repeat thread from a new poster who does a horrible job of getting his point across. It turns into a derailed thread where everyone slams the OP while the OP and another goon or two decides to rant about "Senior Members" and mods.

About every 24 hours there is a thread like this where the poster manages to get his point across in an acceptable manner and it turns into an argument where no one makes very much sense, everyone simply states their opinion without much intelligent discussion, and the thread ends the same as the last: no ones opinion is changed, a few people are pissed off, and a few rivalries have been born.

Great stuff.
