Defense looks great, Quarterbacking doesn't

people keep saying he had nobody to throw to. guess what, these are the same receivers he will have all season! of course smith is the only one missing so i guess you are claiming moore will be a one trick pony like delhomme? when in trouble, throw it up to smith?

touchdown drives this preseason:

matt moore 0

me 0

True... he will have some of these guys this season, which is my point, they better learn how to get open or teams will double Smitty and take their chances with the other WRs, which they'll probably do anyway...

I do think that when all the starters return the offense will improve. However, after a few weeks defenses are definitely going to have more footage of Moore just as someone already said. I really don't understand how people here excuse Moore's play with the "once smitty gets here, everything will be ok" talk. What happens if he breaks his arm....again (remember Davis). We need to have that much confidence in our qb, not one wr. We already tried that with Delhomme. If another wr emerges (saw some ok good play last night from Lafell) then we might be ok. But I have noticed a trend in Moore locking onto Rosario......that deep pass with three defenders nearby was horrible. Anyways, I guess I'm trying to say is that I don't really feel like Moore has really taken over this team. Yea, he's played better than Clausen but I don't see that fire in him yet. I guess we'll have to see in the Meadowlands.

And these are the types of teams we must beat. I love how fans say 'but so and so is a tough team'. Yeah...and? If Moore wants to be the QB then he has to beat those teams.[/QUOTE]

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to the teams we have beaten (in the regular season) with MM as QB.

PS.......preseason games are practice games. Don't read but so much into them........ good or bad.

Yeah. He has showed nothing this preseason.

It's not like the Ravens, Jets and Titans have good defenses or anything. Not like the Panthers have been playing without their #1 threat at WR with Smith.

Let us just blindly judge the qbing position.

The Titans were 28th in total defense last season, giving up over 360 yards per game...

I need to see what Moore can do with Smitty playing and our running game in full effect. It's easy for a QB to look bad when nobody is open and the broadcast doesn't show that.

Smitty and our running game will open things up, then we can evaluate Moore.

At least you've drawn a line in the sand as to how and when you will evaluate Moore. Most on this forum keep coming up with excuses why the current week doesn't matter, and there is a new story every week. To them, there will be excuses right up through the last game of the season.

and we were pretty shitty against the run last year and now look at us. whats your point? teams do improve. what a team did last year means nothing.

So somebody claims that the Titans were a good defense and that is alright, even though it is a lie. I point out that they were one of the worst in the NFL last year and you tell me last year means nothing. All we have to go off of is last year and this preseason and preseason means far less than last year.

If we go off of preseason though they still are giving up over 300 yards a game. Either way you look at it they aren't good on defense. Of coarse teams improve, but they have pretty much the same cast of players as they did last season. We might improve because our team speed on defense, and the personnel is much different that it was last year.

Then again, by your logic preseason means nothing so you can't yet claim we are much improved on the run defense, right?

Most of MM's throws in the first half were on 3rd and long. Pretty hard to look good in that situation. If our run game isn't working our passing game wont look good. It amazes me that no one saw this last night. When we actually opened up and Let MM throw on first and second we moved the ball pretty well. Jimmy had a decent showing and reinforced my opinion that he will be a franchise quarterback if we give him the time he needs to develop.

Question for the Clausen fan boys. What the f**k has he done in the NFL? Absolutely nothing. End of discussion. Im glad we got 2 good QBs right now, but only 1 of them has done something in the NFL with good numbers and good win/loss record while the other one hasn't done a damn thing yet.
