Roster Predicition / Roster cuts

People need to just accept the fact that there is NO WAY that Jarrett gets cut. He will be the #2 WR on opening day.

With all due respect, I have to disagree with you. He has played with the first team all preseason and has 5 catches with a long of 8 yds. Someone convice me why would we keep him?

By that logic, Jeff King has one catch for 6 yards - looks like he's out too.

In regards to the QB situation - I wouldn't be surprised if we kept 3 on the roster, and stashed one away on the practice squad. It would be much easier to stash Cantwell again because he is far less recognized around the league than Pike, but Cantwell is further along at this point. After what happened in '07, there is no way we go into the season with only 2 QB's. We are likely going to lose one of the QB's we have right now, IMO.

I'm in with the group that Jarrett makes the cut. The offense as a whole has poo the bed all preseason and without Smitty and our beast of a backfield in play, I think it would be wrong to cut DJ. Everyone knows he's on thin ice, so let him play out the '10 season, because Moore and Guy have done nothing with the 1's against opposing teams' 1's that merits cutting Jarrett.

Smitty

Jarrett

LaFell

Gettis

Edwards

Wright (IR)

I still think we keep 2 QB's...with Edwards as the emergency 3rd QB.

Neither Cantwell or Pike is better than anything the Panthers could sign off the street in the event of an injury.

I think Jarrett sucks.

I also think there's no way he gets cut. If LaFell blew up, maybe, but he's been way inconsistent and needs some time, which isn't a slight, most WRs do. Jarrett makes it this season and we watch him explode for 300 yards on the season and leave in FA next year.

I don't think special teams will play into it. How many #2 WRs are counted on to play a big role in ST?

Guy in no way makes it. We'll cut him and stash him on the PS.

Moore will be a victim of numbers (Gettis won't make it through waivers) UNLESS Wright is placed on IR.

My guess:

Smith

Jarrett

LaFell

Wright

Gettis

Edwards

One injury away from the laughingstock of the league at WR.

The Cowboys cut Pat Watkins, a half-decent backup safety but pretty good special teamer. I'd have to see why he was cut before I'd know to get on board though.

Possibly a better receiver idea than Antonio Bryant would be James Hardy, a possible cut by the Bills. He's a big receiver but he's slid down the depth chart for health reasons. If there's a chance of his health improving he'd be younger and cheaper than Bryant. That's a big "if" though. Teams don't generally cut second round picks if they think they can return. And even if we got him, he'd be something of a project.

(Tyke Tolbert's input on this one would probably carry some weight)
