Roster Predicition / Roster cuts

My projected cuts, separated by likelihood...

FAIRLY CERTAIN:

RB Josh Vaughn (practice squad candidate)

RB Dontrell Savage

FB Rashawn Jackson (practice squad candidate)

WR David Gettis (probably a lock for the practice squad)

WR Trent Guy (IR stash or practice squad)

TE Jamie Petrowski

G Ray Hisatake (practice squad candidate)

G Andrew Crummey

T Tim Duckworth

DT Andre Neblett (practice squad possibility, but I think we'll get a DL from elsewhere for the PS)

MLB Mortty Ivy

OLB Sean Ware

JURY'S STILL OUT:

WR Kenny Moore (pretty sure he's done, possible only if they jettison Jarrett and unlikely even then)

C-G CJ Davis (I think he sticks initially, but I could see him losing a spot to a cut from another team)

T Garry Williams vs T Rob Petitti (pretty sure Williams sticks, but I'm hedging)

BIG DECISIONS:

DT Corvey irvin vs DT Nick Hayden vs DE Eric Moore (the team usually keeps nine d-lineman; I like Moore, but based on age I think Irvin is the one who sticks in this bunch)

LB Jordan Senn vs LB Nic Harris vs LB Quinton Culbertson (one, and possibly two, of them will stick as a special teamer; Gantt says two, I say one)

SS Marcus Hudson vs CB Robert McClain vs CB RJ Stanford vs CB Brian Witherspoon (the team may keep only nine DBs, but ten seems more likely; I'd keep Witherspoon for returns, but as the last DB he'd be inactive so what's the point; Hudson and either Stanford or McClain stays; Gantt says McClain; I'm not as certain)

K Todd Carter vs QB Hunter Cantwell vs QB Tony Pike (to keep Carter, you have to skimp somewhere else; and let's be honest, neither of these guys is that great; still, I think it's more likely Cantwell sticks and Pike goes to PS, but I'm not ruling anything out)

I agree with your version of the cuts, Mr. Scot, but I don't think Gettis will last long on the PS and it wouldn't suprise if Neblett ended up there also, as he's shown some promise.

Moore is definitely on the bubble right now IMO and I don't see them cutting Jarrett as he's the most experienced WR outside of Smith that could hold down the #2 spot. Mind you, he's the best available of what we have now, which is not saying very much. CJ Davis may end up back on the PS but neither Petitti or Williams have impressed me and I can see both being cut, especially if there's someone better out after Saturday's cutdown deadline.

WR 1: Smith - Moore(PR?) - Gettis(KR)

LT: Gross - Williams

LG: Wharton

C: Kalil

RG: Bernadeau - Robinson

RT: Otah - Schwartz

TE: King - Rosario - Barnidge

WR 2: Lafell - Guy(PR?) - Edwards(PR?) (Emergency 3rd QB)

QB: Moore - Clausen

FB: Fiammetta

RB: Williams - Stewart - Goodson(KR) - Sutton

LDE: C. Johnson - Hardy

LDT: E. Johnson - Tyler

RDT: Leonard - Irvin - Hayden

RDE: Brown - Brayton - Moore

OLB 1: Anderson - Norwood

MLB: Connor - Ivy

OLB 2: Beason - Williams

LCB: Gamble - Wilson - Witherspoon(PR?)

RCB: Marshall - Munnerlyn(PR?)

SS: Godfrey - Hudson

FS: Martin - Pugh

P: Baker

K: Kasay

KO: Carter

LS: Jansen

This is my list and I'm sticking with it!

WR: Gettis and Moore get open and make plays on ST's, funny how all our WR and TE can play ST, except the "albatross" Jarrett?

QB: Moore and Clausen, only! Pike to PS if he clears, Hell Edwards threw the best pass of the preseason, he has a better arm than most thought.

DE: C. Johnson may be most improved player, along with Brown. The 5, I listed, have combined for 13 sacks. But it's because, they have rotated and kept them fresh.

LB: I like Ivy and Williams, both fly to the ball and will help our ST.

CB/S: Hudson makes tackles, but scares the hell out of me in coverage, Pugh is a Fox guy and makes it due to ST. Wilson can play CB or FS, which will help his cause and Witherspoon, is just a playmaker.

KO: Carter has pretty good hangtime and puts it 5 yds deep, can't imagine Baker or Kasay doing the same, plus you don't want to expose them to injury on returns.(However, Baker has that whole Karate kick tackle down)

LS: Has anyone else noticed, Jansen on punt returns? He is one of the first guys downfield!

My only concern... PR, Moore did have a good return, but fumbled, and will he even make the squad? Does Edwards have the upper hand?

How in the hell can you keep this guy around and as a #2? His production speaks for itself, even Colbert was better than this guy. If Moore and Gettis are waived, they will be quickly grabbed by another team. I bet Peyton Manning would love to have Gettis as an option.

In my opinion, when the Panthers drafted 2 QB's and with the lack of playing time Cantwell has had, he is history. Ditto for DJ, If he was a lock to make the team, why would they draft 3 WR and why was he in the game so late, last night. I think the coaches have Moore, Gettis and Jarrett battling for 2 spots. They may keep Guy on IR or waive him after cuts and pick up a FA and put him on PS.

I really do think Cantwell and DJ are gone! :nopity:

Jarrett isn't going anywhere. Do you really think John Fox will hand over playing time to a rookie receiver? They never gave Jarrett a chance. People can kick and scream that he did nothing in practice or whatever, but fact of the matter is when Fox played him in games...he found a way to produce. Chargers and Saints games come to mind. Plus we shouldn't forget that Jake Delhomme could only throw to a player with #89 on their jersey...it is what led to his downfall.
