Moore is less

i just wish clausen could have taken first team snaps from the beginning. he'd have been better than moore and ready to start the season.

4 straight false starts??? you've got to be kidding. and moore fans complain about the receivers moore has to work with? jimmy has 5 knuckleheads in front of him.

How do you know that Clausen didn't cause the false starts with his cadence?

W/o reading the entire thread, I'll just say this...

Moore has never impressed me in the preseason.

Yet, whenever he's played in the regular season, he wins and plays pretty darn good.

Now, as far as tonight... No Smitty, no JStew. Working in new guys into the 1st string, most likely guys he hasn't had a lot of reps with - Gettis, Guy for example. We didn't run the ball anywhere near as much as we would run it if it were a real game, and why would we? Gotta keep DWill fresh and healthy, and again, no JStew. And it's already been beaten to death that our WR corps has to be among the league's weakest as a collective unit until they prove otherwise.

Also, I'd like to point this out... Anyone else notice on that hail mary throw last week that Moore threw it up like a punt and it only went about 40 yards or so in the air. It looked like he maxed himself out. Yet tonight, if I'm not mistaken, when he scrambled out of the pocket towards his left and then launched up that loaf of bread to Rosario, who then almost caught it but then broke it up from the defender, that IIRC he threw it a good 55-60 yards in the air? It's weird. Sometimes he seems so zoned in and everything has zip and is accurate. Then other times he's overthrowing guys and when it seems like when he thinks about it and tries to put some 'umph' into his throws that they look like wounded ducks. Just an observation...

That throw to Rosario was ugly. He had plenty of time, but started dancing around to make an off balance throw into a ton of Titans DBs. He was getting frustrated I guess, wanting to make a play.

He only had two passes I remember that hit some Titans in the hands. That's pretty good out of 33.

Yeah, it looked like he was trying to force it. Definitely saw the frustration on his face and in his reactions. I was just surprised b/c I've seen him throw less than 50 yards on at least 2 hail mary attempts in his career, including last weeks, and although the throw to Rosario tonight was ugly, it went at least 55-60.

Matt Moore is servicable, as his record with Smitty and Double Trouble on the field indicates. He is not a GOOD quarterback, as his performance whenever they're not on the field indicates.

You all know I'm a Rams fan. Trust me, we made a living out of using servicable quarterbacks for a long time before Warner came along. We made the playoffs a lot (before the 90s). We also lost every year to teams with better than servicable QBs. I could list five or six Matt Moores that took us to the playoffs....James Harris, Pat Haden, Vince Ferragamo, Jeff Kemp, Dieter Brock...all had good W-L records. None were going to win without strong running games.

Matt Moore is one of those guys. Why not give Clausen, who has the potential to win big playoff games, the nod?

Because Clausen is a rookie. As soon as he gets on tape a game or two the DC's around the league will gameplan around his tendencies and confuse the hell out him in schemes. Give Jimmy some time to learn and study film this year, open up the competition next season.

Yes, he's going to struggle some. But look at Matt Ryan and the kid with the Jets. The key here is that the Panthers have a line that theoretically isn't going to get Clausen killed....ala Tim Couch, David Carr, and other first round flameouts.

So start him for the sake of starting him? The Panthers have Matt Moore who is 26 years old and last season was 6 and 2 and had a 98.5 QB rating.

Lets bench him, and put the rookie in because of preseason games.

Not following the logic.

If Matt comes in and performs poorly during the regular season, you might have a case. But now I just don't see it.

I think Matt is going to perform poorly, because his coach isn't in his corner. Never has been.
