People are totally and thoroughly missing the point by using wins. There can be up to 4 different lineups duking it out in a preseason game. Wins and Losses don't matter. It's a total Red Herring.

What some people seem to be pushing is that no matter how the team looks, it doesn't matter because it's preseason. When in reality there is correlation.

If the team is looking crappy/beastly fans aren't naive for trying to project those performances in the regular season. There isn't much gameplanning but a guy can't catch, tackle, get open etc, he's probably not going to be able to in the regular season as well.

I wasn't using that to counter you btw. I actually agree w/ you. Im just a bit tired of people putting TOO much empahsis on preseason

A lot of valuable info comes out of pre-season and many things can be obscured if one simply looks at W-L records. The Panthers pre-season last year had one simple mission, work out the kinks and fill out the roster, but that obviously didn't work out too well. This year is totally different. We have roster concerns, as usual, but there are also new faces, position changes and even some starting positions up for grabs. Totally different from last year. In retrospect, the 0-4 outing last year actually said something about where this team was at as far as game readiness. This year is far more interesting from a personnel standpoint and we are also looking for offensive and defensive unit chemistry. Tonight's game should be a good one. I hope the offense gets on track and the defense continues to shine. I still keep in mind that we have four major players sitting on the sidelines, and three are crucial for our offense. Luckily, those three should be back for Week 1.
