Adam Schefter: Panthers could release Delhomme

Because he doesn't have elbow problems anymore, can be very good when he is on and has 2 or 3 years left to play. Look no further than Kurt Warner for your answer. last year he was injured and people said he was washed up. This year he is rejuvenated, all-pro and may be headed to the Super bowl.

Who is better right now who is available? Remember carr and Testeverde last year???

Nuff said!

True.. But Carr and Testeverde were a joke and we all knew that the minute they started playing. Thus the reason they are gone and Jake maybe as well. We released an aged Muhammad before to save Cap money. Who is to say we won't do it again to a Panther's icon? I wouldn't mind restructuring his deal, but again I wouldn't want to have the young talent we have go to waste and age with Delhomme without any production. That's all I am saying. We shall see how he bounces back next year I suppose.

Those three highlighted words are the key to every offseason move the Panthers are going to make, period.

You must not remember some of the threads around here. People loved Carr after the first Falcons game...and Vinny's first game against Arizona. In fact I remember a huge thread that said "We should start Vinny even when Jake's healthy."

And Hurney has said that releasing Moose was the worst mistake he ever made. If he releases jake it will be the second. We spent years trying to replace Moose and never did, I personally don't want to do the same thing with Jake. I was stunned and sick saturday night but in the end I have liked this year as much or more than any other. 8-0 at home was great and 12-4 was as well. Jake sucked that game but a tougher defense and adherence to what we do best which is run the ball could have changed things significantly. It is always best not to change things wholesale. For me the defense is broken not the offense. If we fix that side of the ball there is no reason to think we can't have a great season next year.

This get rid of Delhomme stuff both by the fans and media is ridiculus. We ALL agree he sucked a** on Saturday - but who does everybody think the Panthers can get in here that is any better?? There isnt anybody.

While we are bashing Delhomme, which is warranted - how about a coaching staff that kept calling the same plays over and over and over and over again when it was clear Delhomme was sucking a**.

There is plenty of blame to go around for that debacle Saturday night.

Fox and Hurney have in their own way been trying to find and put on this team a capable backup that can also either start or some day replace Delhomme. To this point that have not been sucesssful. Getting rid of Delhome then trying to find a new starter from what is available basically throwing next season away and will compound what many beleive is an already existing problem with the QB position.

Well I recently joined this site. I was over at the Panthers scout.com boards. However, I don't doubt it. It is a message board. You will have all kinds of people wanting all kinds of things. Some reasonable and some not. I mean you can't take every thread serious. Even here I see people making user names to joke and pose as Jake Delhomme and John Fox and whoever else they can think of.

I'm not in the trash Delhomme camp but there really needs to be some competition brought in. but the Panthers are not like other teams. They live by their beliefs and philosophies and die by their beliefs and philosophies. They'll live by their QB and die by their QB, while other teams will at least make an effort to improve personnel-wise, we'll walk in next season with the same three guys.

Because this is the John Foxies. And if the John Foxies were coaching the Bears, Rex Grossman would still be QB right now because he at least led them to a superbowl. Nevermind the games where he would turn over the ball 3+ times, ...like Delhomme has done this year. Nevermind that this has turned into a QB's league and you notice the 4 teams that are left, all have solid QBing. Flacco's protecting the ball and making good throws, McNabb, Warner, Big Ben. Nevermind the final 4 QBs LAST year were on their A game, Manning, Brady, Rivers, Favre. Because THIS coaching staff doesn't believe what is obviously winning superbowls in recent history is going to be successful.

Delhomme had MAJOR elbow surgery on his throwing arm, the entire offseason, this coaching staff made a gamble. If Delhomme was going to be horrible, we would've been 7-9 or 8-8, reason for the record being so high was because the running game was on fire. They did not bring a QB in, they did not look at options, nothing. McCown was brought in only after Miami threw him away when they got Pennington.

Delhomme has had 2 int games, a 3 int game, a 4 int game, and now, finally, a 5 int game. I've seen a dropoff in accuracy, he's 34 years old, he just came back from a major injury, and the coaching staff.... couldn't give less of a poo about all the question marks. They're thinking this is the same guy with the same abilities he had in 2003, 2004, etc. The lack of serious consideration is going to hit this team like a f*cking mack truck in the future and all us panther fans have the torment of having to watch the team we love, get turned into an NFL road waffle, and the worst part is, the team will willingly get hit by it because it refuses to make a change.
