Help A Huddler Out!

So I'm trying to come into NC for the Bears game from California. My brother lives in Wake Forest and I'll be staying with him Friday and Saturday night, but I'm trying to inconvenience him as little as possible. Me and my lady will be flying in Friday and leaving Monday. I'm thinking of flying in to Raleigh-Durham, and flying out of Charlotte. I can then just rent a car Sunday morning to come out to the tailgate, watch the game, and then drop the car off Sunday night. Is this a good plan of attack? What hotels are close to the area? Where can I find a place that is good to eat and has good beer close to the stadium? Any help you locals could give me would be greatly appreciated.

priceline a hotel in downtown charlotte, you got plenty of time and they'll all be very close to the stadium. I know Courtyard by Marriott can almost be seen from our tailgate lot. There are tons others I'd honestly just priceline it though.

Pretty sure the Hilton downtown has a rental car kiosk in it as well. Beer places there are tons of so don't worry about that.

Beware of the Raleigh to Charlotte drive. Although on a map it doesn't look that far, truth is, there's no easy, short way to get to Charlotte from Raleigh.

Why am I thinking of the pawn shop from Pulp Fiction mixed with Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs?

And, based on that statement, you might not want to travel any backroads...

My daughter & son-in-law make this drive a few game days every year. It's not a bad drive until you get past Salisbury on I-85 south. Otherwise it's a pretty wide open ride and now cuts off a great deal of road where you never see Greensboro. Find a fast pack of cars and stay with them. They're going to the game too. 540 to 40 is the sweetest drive in Raleigh.
