Most brutal song ever

They're no Decapitated.

You can definitely top that pile of pop metal with Devildriver though. Lamb of God had three solid albums, and DD has had none.

There's a few others in here too.

Even though I'm a big Lamb of God fan I have to agree. New American Gospel, As the Palaces Burn, and Ashes of the Wake are the only great albums. From Sacrament on it starts to go downhill. Burn The Priest wasn't bad though.

I'll take a break from dishing out butthurt to speak highly of the bands I was pleasantly surprised to find in here.

The Faceless = gooooood fugin' poo

Beneath the Massacre = owns your face and everyone elses'

Origin = I don't think there's a better grindcore band anywhere, even the mighty Napalm Death

Human Abstract = Not too concerned with being metal, but they obviously love what they do which I really appreciate in a metal band

Through the Eyes of the Dead = Best metal band I've heard of in the past year

Necrophagist = Not my cup of tea, but they pull it off live and they're better than a few bands mentioned in this thread

Gojira = I consider them poppy metal, but they have such a wide variety of influences and their textures are amazing. Love every single one of their albums.

Skinlab = They fuging suck. Eat a cock.

Most of the things that bother me about the rest of these bands are the ways they've ripped off Pantera....who of course was a ripoff of Exhorder...

I wouldn't put Ashes of the Wake on that list, but I think the riffing on that album is actually superior to the others.

My short list of LoG albums would be Burn the Priest, New American Gospel and As the Palaces Burn. Chris Adler is an amazingly capable drummer, but I think he's left out a lot of the dinks and dunks on the new poo so they could sell it to a wider audience.

They're still just Pantera-lite though. Wish they'd get a real vocalist.

PSC, what are your thoughts on Parkway Drive? I really like their sound personally.

They kinda suffer from the same thing most metal bands suffer from. Biting on what's trendy right now, not showing any patience with their music. The guitarist has a great ear for tone though, assuming the producer wasn't the one that whipped up his sound.

I just wish some of these bands would do more to distinguish themselves from the genre.

The drummer however is very generic and I think he's holding them back. So many of his beats and riffs have been ripped off from other drummers.

You could also say that about any other genre that binds its music to a core sound/structure/technique.

Hardcore is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

R&B is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

Country is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

Pop Rock is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

Death Metal is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

Hip Hop is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

Blues is unfathomably horrible and uncreative music.

And then there's Ween.

lol PSC and I are the resident music elitists of the Huddle, I see... I just have more throwbacks that I listened to back in the day...

IE The Slipknot, the Fear Factory, and the Chimaira post...

You have to remember that those were stepping stones for me into what I listen to now (mostly The Faceless, BTBAM, Beneath the Massacre, and all the local stuff lately), and are a far far cry from the Nirvana/Green Day/Classic Rock I listened to in my middle school years...

FWIW a lot of the deathcore/grindcore, etc bands of today use elements from Fear Factory... Even the mighty Meshuggah has a heavy FF sound influence... Even my favorite guitarist Michael Keene of The Faceless credits my idols growing up like Alan Holdsworth and SRV...
