Fox to Cleveland?

8-8 is scary?

Boy, some of you are slow. Lemme 'splain.

John Fox, coach of the Panthers, has won six of the eight times as a Panthers coach when they've played in Raymond Jame's Stadium. As a Panthers coach, he has a winning record against the Buccaneers when playing on the road. The comment was made to point out that we own the Buccaneers, by way of a suggestion that he be the coach because he wins a lot in their stadium. It wasn't intended to be a serious suggestion that he would be a .750 coach for the Bucs. Although, if they got him history suggests he would win more than he loses and they woludn't have any more 3-13 seasons.

But it was a facetious comment. I'm sorry you misunderstood.

I would love to play against a coach like Fox every year, twice/year would be a bonus. He is conservative and predictable.

From a guy who did coach against Fox twice a year.

"I have so much respect for John Fox," Gruden said. "He's one of the top coaches in football. He's the winningest coach in Panther history. His players love him. What he did late last season - that says a lot. I have no idea what he'll be doing in 2011. But I'll tell you this - if the Panthers lose John Fox? Hey, I wish them luck. Because they'll need it."

I like how everyone was on board to fire Fox last year until Moore saved his ass. Now it's like "HEZ THA GREATEST EVERS!!1"

Yeah how crazy for people to give credit to Fox for the performance of his players on the field.

Your logic is flawed.

how about the 11 games he started Delhomme after multiple 3-4 INT games while spitting out BS like "he gives us the best chance to win." or "I couldn't pull just him without making changes elsewhere"? The only change he had to make was 1! It was his fault last season for leaving Jake out there so long and why we were horrible. All he had to do was make 1 change and he didnt do it until it was too late. If you dont see that, then you are too blind for help.

i dont think, hyperbole excluded, that anyone credible is really taking that attitude. there are people (rightfully) giving fox credit for his strengths as a player's coach, but nobody's going ape about it.

That is a completely different point then the one you made earlier.

Yes I agree he kept Jake in too long.

Anyone we would potentially replace Fox with is nowhere near his level.

Why people want the best coach in the history of the panthers to leave town is beyond me.

Did you want the best quarterback in the history of the Panthers to leave?

In the words of Jay-Z, "It's all about progression."

I am actually not as anti-Fox as most. My main beef with him was steadfastly refusing to start anyone not named Delhomme last year until he was injured. I believe that cost us the playoffs last year. I also wish he would allow for a more creative offense and fix the passing game. Other than that, I wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed.

I want a new coach, but that doesn't mean I have to be blind and say dumb things to try and exaggerate the situation. I think he's conservative to a fault and I will probably gout blood from my left ear the next time we go up by 3 in the 2nd quarter and ease off the gas, but still Fox is a really good coach and we're playing roulette by letting him go.

No its on point. We were ready to fire him until Moore saved his ass. Then you attempted to give all that credit to Fox when he made that change too late to save our season in the first place and had to come up with a phantom injury in order to make that change.

Let's see. I have a QB going through a slump that, prior to this season, has been a very decent player for me and a benefit to the team as a whole. Should I let him work through this and hopefully return to a higher level of play or go with my young backup who doesn't show up enough in preseason or practice for me to get a good bead on.

I'm sure this isn't anywhere near what went through Fox's head and he wanted to tank the season for nefarious purposes.

Part of the reason Delhomme was in for so long was your boy Moore's fault as well.

    • I mean that’s not an argument I go with… But in ACC play, both Clemson and SMU covered the spread more than Miami.  Miami didn’t cover in 3 games.
