Yasinskas puts Carolina's 'purge' into perspective

As this thread unfolds there are clearly several trains of thought. Those that are focused on what has happened so far, and those who think that we are using the cuts as a prelude to reloading and signing our core players down the road.

Those that think that Richardson is being cheap and lining his pockets versus those that that think we unloaded dead wood and are preparing for the future.

Those that think we gave up on the team and those that think that going young will make us better not worse. Those that like us not spending on vets and others who see us not doing what it takes to win this year or next.

And finally those that think the CBA is driving the boat while others think that we needed to do this anyway regardless of the CBA.

I think I have everything mostly covered. Feel free to add.

For me much of this is still up in the air and really depends on what happens down the road. So much is still unknown. Is our defense better or worse. Will our offense score points when we get everyone back?

Will Richardson spend the money (big bucks from what I see) to keep the core, decide to keep some and get rid of others or continue cutting and replacing more expensive guys with cheaper alternatives.

Much of this won't be answered for another 12 or 16 weeks. By then we will know where we stand. We will know if we are contenders or pretenders. If the youth movement made us Green Bay or Tampa Bay.

It will also determine if the coaches are stud ducks or lame ducks. We could go on and on for another 100 posts with no more resolution. This will be a great thread to revisit in 12 months when we will know the answers to most of these questions. Until then, most of these posts about what we will or won't do, what the front office is thinking or not, why we should have picked up this guy or stood pat which is speculation and lots of hot air. There really is no resolution or answers at this point. And no one really knows what the FO will do. I wonder if they know themselves????

I do not think we are throwing this season away either. Are you guys honestly saying those players we released are THAT much better than the players we have now? No offense but they had their year last year and sucked it up. I honestly believe we are going to surprise a lot of people this year with a young, fast and hungry team and a relatively easy schedule. But things are definitely looking up for the Panthers future.

Those old guys won 12 games in 2008. Can these young guys do that?
