The WR core according to Gantt

I just dont see the reason, Beaux. 6 wr's for what? Why would we NEED Moore on the roster. I gotta say, if he makes the roster then that should mean one of two things about him. Either he is a madman on ST's or he has the potential to be MUCH more than he is now. Undoubtedly, your opinion differs on the latter and you do think that he can be much more, but we have our hands full with two rookies (AND another receiver who might actually be dumber than Dexter Manley). . .can the coaching staff handle juggling all that at WR at one time?

It's my impression that you take a few young guys and you work with em. If you take too many young guys then maybe they dont progress as well as they could. Fahk Idk how it works man, but I personally would rather tutor one person at a time than 4.

I agree completely that we don't need six receivers. But with this much youth and inexperience at the position, I feel like this is the sort of year where we need to carry as many as possible to ensure we get someone who is worth keeping around. My opinion regarding Jarrett is that, short of a Pro Bowl year, he'd be done here anyway -- why not cut him sooner rather than later so that we can see what another young guy has?

I initially thought LaFell would look good enough to grab the No. 2 spot, but he's been less than impressive. Still, if the coaches feel he's capable of playing that role, I wouldn't mind them shipping Jarrett out.

Yep yep, I get that and I feel very much the same about this predicament. I would say DJ has less than a 10% of working out for us at this time BUT we have to go easy on Lafell. Not nearly enough time has passed to judge him properly yet. I agree, fo sho, but we gotta wait. Fox evaluated him early on saying "He's a plug and play guy", meaning that he WILL contribute this year.

Lafell, at least, will actually be dressed for game time come week 1. I gotta say he's gonna be on our 45 for gameday if he knows the playbook, runs decent routes, and can block. Considering the investment in him, I think we owe it to ourselves to go all the way and give him the reps he needs to find out if he's the answer.

The problem is that DJ's 10% chance has a much higher ceiling of potential and Im guessing coaches. . just. . cant . . pass. . that up. Aaaaaand so Moore will likely get the ax methinks.

EDIT: I would love to grab a vet like CRA is talking about though. then let DJ go

I am guessing that they try to stash Gettis on the PS and Edwards has shown nothing to warrant such conisderation--he was drafted in the third. What else? He might go IR and someone like (hear me out) Charly Martin could step in and be the most reliable WR not named Smith. I know this leaves me open for scorn and ridicule, but if DJ and Lafell don't produce, Moore continues to fade, and Wright is what we thought he is, then you never know. Martin runs good routes, has good speed, and has good hands. He knows the playbook, a big +. Never say never.

Hint - yes it is. ;) They will ALL take heat for it, one way or another, except the proven stars, imo.

Note the "unfairly" part. ;)

If Moore falters this year, he'll pay the price. Even though Manning or Brees might have crappy numbers with the WR set we have, Moore will be sent down the road.

Here is my take on it (again):

Would I rather see a 6th WR or a 6th DE? Then it comes down to Moore vs. Moore

I pick Eric Moore!

Yep Mr. Gunz would be on my list before a 6th wr also. I dont care if he's been playing against 3's, he seems to show up everywhere and that, I would think, translates to rollin with the 1's.

Anyone get a look at him on ST's?
