Am i the only fan against going to an 18 game schedule?

I tend to side with the players on this. Its a long tough season as it is. Im definitely all for eliminating a pre-season game or two, but dont think we really need two more regular season games. I think 16 is plenty for a number of reasons.

I feel for season ticket holders that have to buy PS game tickets at full price, but dont think the answer is adding more regular season games.

i've thought about it, and i guess i lean towards being in favor, but under conditions.

1. keep the total number of games the same so psl holders still pay for the same number of games. preseason + regular season = 10 home games

2. pay the vets more and the rookies less. only logical given more games are meaningful

3. increase the roster size to ~60 so that more depth can be retained for when a player goes down

biggest reason i started thinking this way is because of the run the panthers were on at the end of last season. two more games might have gotten us a wildcard.

I didn't think about increasing the roster size. Good solution for this. I'm sure when the NFL went to 16 games a lot of people thought that was too many at the time.

To all who want a change, what's wrong with the NFL now?

i agree.

Sounds like the owners just want to keep ticket holders happy, by adding games, and tickets holders want the same...

How beat down is a team gonna be in week 18? Dont you think the quality of the product will suffer?

Need more than 8 meaningful home games. I just love football too much to see it end.

Like i said, those end of the season games are going to be brutal for most if they go to 18. Your gonna have teams that clinch the playoffs not playing people, your gonna have teams out of it, not playing.

It's really hard to say. Two more games a year MIGHT be an attempt to increase revenue to off-set a cap increase (and subsequent increase to all contracts) for a new CBA. I would think that owners and players are desperately trying to avoid a lockout.

Unfortunately as fans, I believe we are going to be left to guess what all this means. The NFL is really good about publicity control when it comes to big deals like this.

4 preseason games is a waste in my opinion and too many players are getting injured in useless games, so for that reason I support an 18-2 schedule. I think camp and the rules about contact etc could be adjusted to take care of more things that preseason is supposedly doing.

I like this idea....2 preseason games and a 17 game schedule. Each team plays one game in a neutral site....Canada, Mexico, Europe, non NFL American City.

I haven't really formed an opinion yet, my first instinct is if it ain't broke don't fix it. This whole thing reaks of greed to milk more money from the fans & run the players in to the ground by the owners.

I think you can do away with 2 pre-season games no problem, like others said, expand the roster adjust the camp rules and give teams enough time to evaluate talent.

But one of things I like about Football is its short and sweet and competitive from week 1- to the end of the season, if you make guys play 18 games they are going to be toast for the playoffs.

+ I don't need fooball in March, thats silly IMO
