Gantt: Peppers.

I honestly think thats one of the hangups.

He doesn't like some part of the scheme.

How much of that is Fox and how much is the Turdo.

What I really do believe is Peppers doesn't want the team left high and dry, and realizes if he does leave he can help us ease the hurt with a pile of draft picks.

Half/Half

Since together they make a damn whole

A lot of assumptions being made.

At one time this last season, we were the 3rd best defense in the league. We were executing well on defense, while our offense was still getting things going.

Then in the second half of the season, they started getting sloppy on defense, and then we lost a few guys, forcing newbies to step up and play.

Yall can make claim on the scheme all you want, but it was working.

I really do hope that somehow we can make changes and get Peppers. It would be odd seeing him in another jersey or even worse, having to play against him. You know, it can of bothers me what people say about him. He had one bad season and all of sudden everyone throws him under the bus. He gets pressure alot of the time in just about every game I see. To just rely on him to always get pressure while the other lineman play pattycake, what else do you expect from the man. He has blocked fgs, sacked QBs, caused a lot of force fumbles this year and so much more. If he truly wants to go, I wish him the best but this team will realize how much we needed him when he leaves. That's all I'm saying.

Last year it was our best DT Kris Jenkins - he wanted out.....so we let him go. He was credited as the main reason the Jets D was playing so well. He was also an early season candidate for MVP. It was easy to (sort of) turn on him because he was injured a lot, didn't come to mini-camp, was always overweight, and mostly I thought he was a jerk based on some of his interviews. That's one player - fine.....good riddance.

This year it is our best DE, Julius Peppers - now he wants out.

I am having a hard time understanding this.....We drafted both of these guys and all they want is to get out of town. Peppers will not sign a contract that would make him the highest defensive player ever. On top of that, Peppers said money isn't the most important thing....he wants to win a superbowl. Soooooo.....by leaving he thinks he can't win that superbowl here??

I don't think two top tier NFL defensive players want to leave our team and city because of the cooking. Something is going on behind the curtains..... Foxy is supposed to be a defensive and "players" coach but he can't seem to make our top players want to stay. All of these players talk to one another.....are other top FA's going to be hesitant to join our team? None of this is a good sign for our future if things don't change. I'm very worried about all of this.

In my opinion, the biggest difference in "Championship" mentality and Coach Fox's mentality is simple. It is commonly known Fox has a goal to be 3-1 at each quarter of the season..therefore, he expects to lose on occasion. I don't know it for a fact but something tells me if you asked the coach with the most Superbowl rings in our era (Bill Belichick) the same question - he would expect to win every game he competes in.....

Case in point....He lost the best QB in the league and had a QB that hasn't played since high school lead them to an 11-5 season. We lost our average QB last year and the whole season fell apart.

We had our shot this year but we blew it......did the players lose that playoff game or was it the coaching? The players didn't decide to give up on the run, the players don't call or plan a defense that allows Fitz to torch us on every freakin first half possession. The Cards wanted to make Jake throw the ball and we played right into their hands.

Now it's Goodbye to Julius Peppers. Sheesh!

he was never a legitimate candidate for mvp, and that award shouldn't be a basis for judging a player's value, especially in regards to an old team/different scheme vs. a new new.

Reminder that part of the jets' decline was due in large part to Jenkins' weight and conditioning, as in the second half of the season he let himself go and couldn't stay energetic for the whole game.

I never thought he would win MVP but the TV talking heads were bringing it up when the Jets were on their winning streak. You're right all that talk faded fast when the Jets imploded at the latter part of the year. My main point is....He is consdered a top tier DT, he was our best DT on the team, and didn't want to play for Fox.

he didn't want to play for the Panthers because they were in Charlotte. I doubt it had anything to do with fox, based on everything that was out at the time and has come out since.
