Gantt: Peppers and Delhomme

We better not extend him at 35...that is a freakin joke. He is a very good leader but he is a mediocre QB. IT IS TIME TO LOOK AT THE FUTURE...we have young team and if we can groom a kid from this draft then we need to do it...I don't want a 37-38 year old Delhomme hanging around. I'm fine with a 35 year old Delhomme but the guy is not freakin Brett Favre and he has not earned a free pass, to think that is completely ignorant.

The extension is to save money, right now next season he makes 11 million. Which btw is top 5 - 6 money in the nfl at the qb position.

I agree with what he is saying in this article. Delhomme knows this system, and lets face it, he is great at getting steve smith the ball. Look at the free agent pool this year @ QB, you have kerry collins, rex grossman, byron leftwich all of which delhomme would be much better than. Its just one of those years where you just have to keep what you got, i'd be singing a different tune if this was 2 years ago and drew brees was a free agent. you have to do the best with what you have and right now, and for at least a year, delhomme is all we have. So get him more receiving weapons, draft some speed on defense and bring in a Def Cord that is more aggressive. Do that, and i like our chances. As with peppers, i say we franchise him and put a 1st and 2nd round tender on him, someone will pay that. we use those pics for WR help and speed on defense. And with jordan gross, resign him, pay him like the top 5 at his position. heck he was voted 1st team all-pro, which i think is voted by players and coaches, not fans, so the guy is darn good.

Yeah! Lets keep Jake and keep this team in mediocrity. Why should we keep a guy that does things to keep the other team in the game? You know what, lets change our offensive philosophy permanently to "Give The Oppenent Mulitiple Chances To Win the Game And Hope Our Defense Can Come Through". Jake excels in that. Its pretty pathetic that a team can't rely on the passing game at all. In order to have a successful offense you have to be good in both areas and not one dimensional. As long as Jake is here, we will always be a one dimensional offense. I dont give a sh*t about Jakes heart or his buddy buddy relationship with Smitty. He costs this team! He is a cancer in our offense. I swear, all the Jake lovers always have something to say when he f*cks up. Poor pass protection or poor play calling. Or after a bad game, "well no one can match his heart" or "him and Smitty have chemistry together" or "he's God in the playoffs"..oh wait...can't use that excuse anymore. Just face it, he is no good anymore. Change needs to happen under center in order for defensive coordinators to fear our offense again.

Just like you don't quit a job until you find something better, you don't get rid of your franchise quarterback until you find someone better. Right now I don't see anyone and except for 2 or 3 horrible games this year he had a number of very good ones. He has given our team the best record we have had and is 52-31 (something like that) as a starter. That is far from mediocre. Other than a Drew Brees I don't see many out there who would be any better including many who are starting for other teams.

I dont see how anyone can think that anyone that is available, or on the Panthers bench can be better than Jake. He knows the system, and is the undisputed leader of the offense. I was calling for his head on Saturday, but I have calmed down a little bit and tried to look at it objectively. If you think Matt Moore or whatever McCown brother we have is better than Jake you are retarded. Jake may not be anything more than an average at best QB, but shitbags like Wrecks Grossman would be 10x worse......just my humble opinion.
