AMC's "The Walking Dead"

Just watched the first episode, don't know if this has already been said or is common sense, but I get the feeling that "Walking Dead" isn't soley going to apply to zombies, in that the humans still alive are essentially dead in that humanity has no chance to survive

ok, so what I dont get is how the zombie's can survive for 30-40 days without eating/drinking water, etc....I know that they eat living people, but at some point, the body/muscles/tissues/organs can last so long without the nesscessary food (water, vitamins, proteins) it needs to survive.

Maybe I am thinking way to much in this and I just need to enjoy the show!

I like how these zombies are smarter, and can run, open doors, pick up objects and smash windows, etc.... unlike traditional stupid zombies who just stagger towards you. Its like they are following the original idea of zombies (see the original Night of the Living Dead, where the graveyard zombie picks up a rock to smash the window AND runs to get the girl)

Excellent 2nd episode, tension runs high watching this show. Extremely well done to this point, I am eager to see the rest. Would it be better to watch each week, or DVR them all and watch all at once??

Heres the link to next weeks sneak peek...

What I dont understand is why Rick feels a need to go back..? What did he say to teh redneck? "Im just a man lookin for my family. I will go through anybody that gets in my way.." So he finds his wife & son, and he going to leave them?? Aint but 30 people not zombies, his family is 2 of those, and he parts ways with them??? If there was ever a WTF moment...

Yeah, I guess the redneck's brother made him feel guilty for leaving him there. If they do go back and find him alive, the redneck will probably just want revenge anyway. Seems like a big waste of time.

I dunno, leaving someone behind like that would eat at me and drive me crazy.

As far as the zombies not needing to eat, I'm sure metabolism is slowed, and the disease slowly consumes the dead flesh of the zombies, and possibly why that half zombie was crawling through the park. The flesh started eating on itself, wasting away, atrophying if you will, to the point to where the tissue was just a gelatinous goop that sloughs off as the zombie moves relentlessly on in search of fresh meat to keep its body from feeding on itself.

Wouldn't be hard to come up with an explanation for that, if they really wanted to. The hows and whys of zombie apocalypse aren't nearly as important as the stress it puts on the individual characters. Get too technical and it takes time away from the development of the core storyline, which is survival.

The bag of tools seemed to significant to not play a part in next weeks episode.
