AMC's "The Walking Dead"

I recorded it last Sunday, and finally got around to watching it. Phenomenal show all the way around.

This was far more than your typical shoot-em-up zombie stuff, which was evident by my wife watching it (albeit she would turn away at the "gross" parts, like the horse scene).

Those saying it explored the human side are right on, and I appreciate the amount of characterization they allowed for. Shooting a little girl? Shooting your wife and the mother of your children? That's heavy stuff.

I'm hooked, and I can't wait for the next episode. I wonder how long this thing's going to run, being that the graphic novels are still being written?

Loved it. Will be watching it all season.

My only complaint is I couldn't stand the actress playing the wife/mother zombie. She was doing some kind of wierd tongue-lolling breathing like a fish or something, and when she was at the door looking in, she was doing some kind of bobbing, jerky head movement like a cat. It was just a very weird performance. Yeah, I understand what effect she was going for, but was she supposed to be a mindless zombie or an animal? I hope the husband shot her at the end because if I have to watch her pawing at the door like a dog next week, I'm done.

I thought it was better than a dead eyed shambler walking over and over into the door or just pounding on it with their fists. I thought that scene was decent.

Let's put it this way, out of all the badass scenes in that first episode, and all the thrills, and all the plot devices and stories brewing, the first thing that comes to my mind when someone mentions the show is how annoyed I was with her performance. That's never a good thing.

I like that the zombies seem to retain some sort of memory of their former selves.

I'll agree with that sentiment. Makes them more human, and thus, harder for the living to kill. Definitely a clever dynamic.

Got to see it last night. Wife agreed that she wants to sit down and see it all, after she turned away at the beginning shooting. She started getting interested when the road trap scene started. I loved the conversation between the two sheriffs more I think.

I dug the dead wife. Thought it brought something different and creepy to the dynamic.

Greg Nicotero is indeed GOD. He kicks so much ass at what he does and is yet the coolest geeked out dude you would ever want to meet.

The show understands that we don't care about the whys of the zombie invasion. We are into the what nows, the people involved...

Whats cool to me is that the entrail eating scene in the original Night of the Living Dead made it basically unrated in the sixties. Now you can see it in graphic color on AMC after a commercial for Doritos.

First show since Battlestar Galactica I can say that I will NOT miss an episode of.
