I had a good night last night...

Good on ya Biscuit! My son and I are best friends and I try to spend as much time with him as I can. Even at 17 we still hang out almost everyday. We go to the gym, play tennis, basketball, watch sports together, etc. He still spends lots of time with his friends and such but we still have our time also which is cool especially at this age. Gonna be hard for me when he leaves for college next year....real hard.

Now it is my 6 year old girl that I have a hard time relating to at times. I have never seen someone love someone so much as she loves her mother, hard to compete with that. We do our daddy/daughter things, but in the end I know she wants to be with her mom. I know my day will come with her though.

We took a trip up to the New River yesterday to do one last thing together before they go back to school and I couldn't help but to watch them float down the river and wonder where the time has gone. It certainly goes by fast.

I'm the opposite situation...I'm much closer to my 11 yo daughter than my 15 yo son. He's closer to his mom. I try with him but he's alot (maybe too much) like I was at his age.

My kid does a 1/2 day preschool. My MIL was a kindergarten teacher for years and she says there is a big difference between kids who stayed at home and kids who were in preschool, so I felt in necessary to have him in some sort of schooling before elementary school. Also I like getting out of the house and feeling like I'm contributing financially to the family. We get to spend from 1 o'clock until 8:30 together.

i'd like to see balance like that. how old is the kid Cat?

what age is good to start preschool?

I would say 3... prolly depends on the kid. My wife would agree with Cat's MiL... kids probably do better in school if they've been in a similar setting with other kids prior to starting regular school.

Of course with my wife, you know she started them reading and working with them when they were like 1... she's a teacher, she can't help it.

I've already gotten 2 spaces reserved in the best British boarding schools, one for a boy and one for a girl.

Charles Dickens ain't got poo on me.

Beware of all the buggery...carry on.

Same here....wife signed my daughter into a program for 3 year leading up to school that was from 8:30a - 1:30p (Tues-Thurs) and it was a great move. Daughter learned to socially interact with other kids and also learned quite a bit to help prepare her for school. Relatively cheap ($125 per week) and mom got to take some time for herself to keep her sanity, run errands, and work on her business.

this may sound selfish, but the hell with it.

the wife is trying to sell me on her being home all the time once I get us to the right income. argues she'll have all the chores done, with exception of mowing, and dinner will be on the table when I get home. i just don't see this happening even when the kid gets to preschool age. she'll be worn out from taking care of the kid, and i'll come home to make my dinner, wash my clothes, yada yada ya, and not have time for the kid because of the amount of responsibility I've taken on.

i pray it doesn't happen that way.
