Im stoked that we defended the pass so well with the caliber of the recieving corps we have faced. Not to mention doing really well in run d with two of the top run offences in the league last year. Our O needs to get it together no excuse for not scoring a single touchdown in two games even if we have faced two really good D's. But if you look at those numbers, they are really low across the board. Offense is always behind in preseason. Not just for us.

I just got curious over this and did some simple excel stuff to just look into it. This doesn't really prove anything. I don't feel like explaining it because that would take WAY longer than it did to do the actual calculations in excel.

Here's what I saw.

The lower ranked your defense was in 09 then the more likely your defense is playing crappier in the 2010 preseason and vice versa. General trend.

The average movement from 09 was about 11 spots or a 31% divergence from last year on average.

it's very, very crude. But the general trends do show that the good defenses play good defense even in the preseason.

Too bad they don't keep stats for the 2008 and 2009 preseasons.
