We didn't have Jarrett when we had Johnson.

We've had an Average QB, Talented Runningbacks, Coach that likes to run the ball, and Poor WR depth.

We also have a Pro Bowl Center.

I think it's a lot more likely that we don't use Shotgun sets because of the factors not involving Kalil.

Panthers have had good centers throughout their history. Garcia, Mitchell, Kalil.

First, I'm sure it's not Kalil, remember when he first showed up we were talking about how he also can long snap?

Anyway, we're still trying to figure out DJ. Previous this year, he got no playing time and had Jake throwing to him so he gets somewhat of a "Incomplete" grade there. Now, our offense has been actually worse. No one on offense has done anything at all. Should we ditch all of them? Gross looks like a scrub and false starts all over the place. It's preseason. DJ catches when it's thrown to him, and without Smith out there, NO ONE is getting open. We're also not game planning. I'm pretty sure DJ will be our #2 and he'll do just fine (if our QB is doing fine). But like someone pointed out, he's never going to be a blockbuster WR.

Preseason is so worthless, it's not ground for making up our minds. It gets more worthless every year. Starters play for 1 quarter and half the starters at that it seems like.

First of all Kalil went to the pro-bowl last year so stop with all the "we don't have a center who can execute the shotgun". We use the shotgun in the hurry up and 2 minute offense every game with no problem. Clausen funbling a few snaps from our backup center has no bearing on the starters.

Secondly we don't use the shotgun as much as other teams because we use more play action passing which usually involves the quarterback lining up in a running formation and faking the run before dropping back to pass.

Finally, this Saturday will tell the most. Tennessee will come on the blitz like Baltimore and New York did. We should be prepared for it on offense. Hopefully we will make the hot read changes and will employ some screens and other dump passes to swing the pressure to our favor.
