some point down the road, y'all gotta pay somebody to play WR other than soon-to-be-retired Vets the "vet minimum"...

or else love the mediocrity we see on the field and quit complaining...

Im still pissed that we didnt try to get him. God, Steve Smith on one side, and Brandon Marshall on the other. DROOL!

same here... anyone who thinks BM wouldn't have been a great addition is fool.. and I love how everyone is so short sighted and couldn't see what the Dolphins saw.. what a shame our FO couldn't figure something out... or at least take a chance..

I wonder how much money he wants maybe they'll settle for a third...

This is the key... the way I see it if I recall correctly the Chargers offered him 3+ million for this year initially and he wanted more. After a stale mate with his agent, the reoffered and reduced the offer by 600k. Since now he will not start until the 4th week if he signs with the Chargers that would reduce he's pay again. So heis worth right now between 2.25 - 2.75 or less (just quick math). If he holds out and the Chargers play tough with him he will not make anything or likely start even later.

So the best thing for both of them to do is just let him talk to some other teams (cough...cough... Carolina). If someone doesn't ****** him up for the "silly money" he was asking for originally (5 years - 50 million). His value falls in my mind, and he would end up signing a 1 year deal somewhere next year. So this is doable in my mind.

Anyone know what Smitty makes?

We could at least offer him a 1 year deal at near about the money he stands to make at this rate, maybe a bit more as an incentive... that is going to workout to still close to 3 million.

I think he is worth it, Fox and Hurney need to be on a plane, train or cell phone. This guy has probably 3+ more Pro Bowls in him. While we are a run team first... you have to throw in this league and this type of skilled wideout doesn't come along everyday! Just look at our wideout selection and it's a no brainer in my mind.

John Fox and Marty need to Go get Vincent Jackson and bring him home!

:iagree:

Our FO simply will not go for him no matter what happens. And I'm gonna give Armanti at least a year before getting wound up about giving up a 2nd rounder for him. Ya never know what happens...it's the NFL.

Other than Seattle, I can only really see St. Louis going after him. Bears fans probably want him, but there's no way they have the money after all their signings.

Wrong year to hold out...prospect of no football next year, no salary cap (cost cutting moves all around), Chargers can get by without him. He isn't playing football this year, unless some team coughs up a 2011 & maybe even a 2012 high round pick.
