ST question

Everytime I go to training camp, I notice when they practice ST they just do walk throughs, they never do live action....maybe thats why we suck at it so bad is because the only time we do real speed covereages is in games... just a thought.

Has everyone else noticed this as well, and is that consistent across the NFL.

Maybe some of the players are doing drills with their other units (Rosario, Barnidge, etc.)

That might be part of the problem. I know that Jimmy Johnson with the Cowboys spent a good portion of practice on ST's. He knew how crucial it was.

Do it with a bunch of big guys running at you full speed intending to hit you as hard as they can while tens of thousands watch from the stands and hundreds of thousands more watch at home.

The problem that I have noticed with the Panthers is that when they put together their Special teams, they have consistently been using "special" players and coaches. Maybe changing the name of the group would help out.

The STs "practice" at training camp was a joke. No wonder they blow and no, this isn't consistent around the NFL from what I've seen.

We should have hired a real STs coach rather than just promoting the guy that studied under the great Danny Crossman.

No one does special teams full-out live in practice on a regular basis...too much chance for injury.

Definitely in agreement that we need to put a bigger emphasis on it and that our coverage sucks.
