anyone who watched AE return punts.. or i guess I should say attempt to return punts as he COMPLETELY messed it up...

after he messed up 2 punts in a row... was I the only one rooting to see AE try for a third... was I the only one wanting to see just how bad it could get?

Yes I wanted him to be put back in there so he could redeem himself and gain some confidence...NOT to hope that he fails again. Did you wish Delhomme threw more picks in the Eagles game last year so you could have had a laugh too?

Yep, you're not the only one. I know what AE can do &, so many fans are still forgetting, that was just the 2nd pre-season game. Fox & Hurney aren't retards, they're smart when it comes to drafting (except for the Colbert & Jarrett draft). AE is only a project as of right now. He should be a lot better by mid-season or next year. Practice makes perfect

if you wouldnt call AE's performance up to now awful.. then what would you call it?? maybe you would call it peachy... or groovy.. or magical.. it was awful and pathetic

it was like watching a car wreck... it was entertaining in a sick kinda way

My post had absolutely nothing to do with his play up till now. In that case, yes it would have been awful. My point, however, was that calling a draft pick horrible, awful, a bust etc., after TWO pre-season is illogical and downright stupid.

Again... two preseason games... major position change... did everyone expect him to be superman? Just how many 2nd and 3rd round picks contribute immediately and excel?

I have no doubt returning a punt is intimidating. I have no doubt it takes a while to learn when to wave it off, when to let the other team down it, when to catch it where to run, and how to read the guys running at your face.

I also have no doubt that a professional football player needs to know how to catch a punted football if that is his job. Edwards has dropped them in practice and now he dropped one in a game. This simply may not be for him. Let him go be a WR, he can catch a pass it seems. Just because he was a wizard on the field in college doesn't mean he'll be a wizard in the NFL. Why is he a punt returner to begin with? We have faster guys on the team. If he can't get punts down by the Titans game, he's wasting everyone's time.

This is a business, not a tutoring session. Projects go on the practice squad. Players make their damn plays, or they waste away on the bench.

I remember back in 2001, we had a rookie WR. We went 1-15 that year, but could have easily gone 2-14 had this rookie WR not muffed two kicks that led to opponent scores. I don't remember the opponent, but I remember that rookie. All I wanted was to see him cut immediately. I think his name was Steve Smith or something like that.
