Why did the cowgirls switch RBs with us?

Sanders is only getting a little over a million to play for them.

Just speculating, but maybe we didn't want him or he didn't want us, and his market wasn't what he expected.  Playing for the Cowboys is more historically prestigious than playing for Carolina.

Lot of factors to be considered here.  We will probably never know.

Rico seems the better player with more upside and younger. Am I missing something?

Dowdle didn't want to stay there and we didn't want to keep Sanders. I don't believe Dallas approached it as a switch.

Javonte Williams was the immediate signing after losing Dowdle. Sanders was 4 days later.

Dont be surprised if this happens, in fact, I REAAALLLY think it will happen.  If Jeanty is there at 8 (high probability IMO that he is) then I think Cowboys will get aggressive to move up and get him.  Not only is he the best RB in the class, considered the best RB in the draft and according to NFL.com is the single highest graded prospect, but on top of that he's from the Dallas metro, so on top of best RB, Jerry would also sell a ton of jerseys.  Last point, Ive noticed over the years, certain GMs feel comfortable trading and working with certain other GMs and organizations, and considering Morgan made a trade of mingo last year with the cowboys tells me theres atleast a line of communication between the orgs.

That and you also have rumors of the bears wanting Jeanty. Moving up to the Saints mean nothing. So we may have Chicago  and Dallas calling to move up to 8... we got history with both obviously.

Jerry Jones is dumb.

He inherited a team and drafted Troy Aikman--and 8 months later, he traded Hershel Walker and got an unreal return:  the Cowboys received linebackers Jesse Solomon and David Howard, cornerback Issiac Holt, defensive end Alex Stewart, and a bounty of draft picks from the Vikings, including three first-round picks and three second-round picks.  UNREAL.

However, that was 1989--the year Aikman was a rookie and was pretty terrible.  After that, the rest was history....

He seemed brilliant then. he rode a wave of 3 super bowls in 4 years.  Since then, he has been cursed by himself.

Nice observation.

Minus the Super Bowl we basically have the same owner.  We drafted Bryce and he was terrible his first year (has gotten better please don’t skewer me). We made a an unreal trade (although we gave instead of got.  We could have made another trade to get more for Burns but the idiots in charge failed to execute but lo, I digress) and our owner, who is also pretty dumb, has been cursed by himself.

I think the big difference is JJ hired a good coach out of the gate instead of a car salesman which point the ship for a while.

Thanks for the perspective and allowing my musings.

That trade for Bryce when we had so much dead cap made it impossible to surround him with talent.  And you could argue that we did not get much for CMC and Burns--etc.  A series of questionable practices over the past 6 years has doomed this franchise.  I think Morgan is realizing this

Javonte is such a downgrade from Rico.  Standard Dallas operating procedure.

Yeah man, i know. It was just an interesting horse "trade" to me. They got rid of a 1k back who was pretty cheap for a guy that is more expensive. If they needed RB help, seems they would have kept the proven commodity.
