The Good The Bad and The Ugly: Jets Edition

The Good:

>Dwayne Jarrett: Call me a homer, I really couldn’t care less. The fact is D.J. did tonight exactly what we need him to this year. He ran crisp routes, made tough catches, caught everything thrown to him and on one occasion used his size to force the smaller defender to hold him resulting in a PI penalty. If I had to choose between Jarrett and Moore right now I would choose Jarrett based on size and hands alone.

>Deangelo Williams: Go figure the guy showed why he is one of the top 5 backs in the NFL.

>Jon Beason: The Beast looked much more comfortable at OLB in week 2. He was routinely around the ball carrier and on several occasions was in the backfield making plays. He made an incredible diving attempt nearly coming up with an interception. Beason and Connor look great beside one another.

>Jason Baker: Kicked the hell out of the ball.

>Todd Carter: See Jason Baker.

>The Defensive Line: If the preseason is any indication (it may not be) this will be our strongest unit on defense. The defensive line got consistent pressure on the Jets all night. When Nick Hayden gets a sack you know your line is playing well. Special honors go to Everette Brown who was an absolute beast tonight.

>Captain Munnerlyn: He made excellent plays on the ball in coverage and his willingness to take a huge hit to get a few extra yards on a return places him on the list.

>David Gettis: In limited action he made a great play. After catching a pass for the first down Gettis muscled his way out of a sure tackle to pick up a very nice gain.

>Mike Goodson: Had several runs for big gains. He seems like a much more physical runner then the guy we saw last year.

The Bad:

>The QB’s: Both Moore and Clausen looked flustered and frantic against a very fast Jets defense resulting in errant throws and sacks.

>The Offensive Line: As a whole the line looked shaky tonight, had trouble in blitz pickup and keeping green jerseys away from the QB’s.

>Kenneth Moore: He makes the incredible look routine but makes the routine look impossible. He dropped several fairly easy catches that would have resulted in nice gains/first downs. On top of that on his return chance he fell backwards after fielding the ball, got back up and then fumbled the ball after being hit. At this point Moore should make the roster but he has been less than impressive as of late.

The Ugly:

>Armanti Edwards: By no means am I bashing the guy or saying he is a bust 2 games into his career. His play tonight was inexcusable though. He has a long way to go to make an impact in this league and I could easily see Edwards being placed on the IR with a phantom injury.

This team has little to no discipline and seems to be lacking enough feet to shoot!

I think, as I say at SC, the defensive coaching is near stellar...the offensive coaching makes me want to cry, and I wonder who's turn it is to be ST's coach this week?

I sure think the Jets have a serious PR D...and I am glad we are not in the home security business...we cannot protect a wood shed!

Thanks D for keeping me awake!

Jarrett was impressive? LOL

Not even by his standards was he impressive. Was his 3 catches for 17 yards against 3rd stringers in the 2nd half really worth your top spot?

Where did I say these were in order. If I had to label what was most impressive it would EASILY be the defensive line. What I said about Jarrett was that he showed he can do exactly what we need him to do this season. Be a possession receiver. Smitty can stretch the field we need the big physical body to make the tough 6 yard catch to move the chains.

Sadly, Jarrett was the most impressive WR in both preseason games.

We better make some damn adjustments before the 3rd preseason game. AE aint gonna be a returner, that project is over. Time to work him out at WR and hope he can contribute there. We need a Returner and ST help in the WORSE way. My God...

Clausen needs a shot with the 1's...just a shot.

Fan Fest was right :yikes:
