You sure that was why? Because on TV with all the angles and such it looked like the o line was inviting them through for some sack sandwiches

The o line was not doing any favors but they wouldn't have had 9 in the box if they thought he could throw it deep. He really just dumps it off all the time or throws out routes that the defender can sit on. Once teams figured out he can't throw it over 20 yards, they would blitz on every passing down knowing that he couldn't beat them. They did that in the 2 minute drill at the end which is pretty much counter to what most coaches do if you are actually moving the ball through the air.

I'm not trying to come off as a Clausen Is the starter guy kinda thing even though I feel Moore will be exposed this year! Anyway If the recivers can't get open what does a QB's progression leave him with? The check down or dump off. I saw one terrible throw from Clausen for the INT. Other than that the recivers were just as bad as the o line- do you agree?

Actually Clausen made another reallllly bad throw where a defensive lineman almost intercepted it. I feel like there was another iffy one, but I can't put my finger on it. Rookie mistakes.

Clausen is a very developed QB for this only being his second game (pre-season at that). I'm definitely not hating on him, but Moore is obviously the better choice at the moment and I doubt that will change throughout the season. However, it is possible, even if very unlikely.

So do you think it doesn't matter then how they both play pre season?

Nope.

I mean, what could happen? Unless Moore gets hurt Clausen will still be the #2 no matter how each of them plays. Hell, even if Clausen throws for 1,000 yards and 10 TD's in the next two games he still isn't going to unseat Moore.

The only way Clausen will get a chance is if Moore goes Delhomme on the team, and I highly doubt Clausen would even start then (bring in a vet FA QB instead) as Moore had already been around a few years when he took over for Delhomme last year.

I would agree if it was another QB from nowhere. But Clausen did play at a high level in college and his mechanics and QB IQ are far more developed than Moore when we found him don't you think?

Clausen doesn't go through his progressions and try and slide one side or the other to buy time in the pocket. He either dumps it the first sniff of pressure or takes off on the roll out which limits his choices.

Clausen did nothing tonight to show he could be the starter and really confirmed what I said last week. Unless he can throw the ball down the field and keep 9 out of the box, he will be under a ton of pressure all day. He reminds me of David Carr a few years ago. They both dumped the ball way too much and were skiddish whenever they sensed pressure.

This is sort of what I was implying. ^ Listen to this man.

I'm listening. If you've seen any of my previous post there more geared towards my distrust of Moore as a Starting QB more than me saying Clausen has to start! I just think if a guy outplays another he should get his chance. It's not like Moore took the job from somebody. He got it by default
