Question from a falcons fan, why do you guys hate our fanbase?

I, for one, hate the city of Atlanta. All of their sports teams annoy me. Their city, in my eyes, is just a bigger, dirtier version of Charlotte. Why anyone would want to live there, I don't know. That's not really the topic of discussion here, though.

Call me an asshole. I don't care. I don't think I could possibly ever root for any team from Atlanta.

Matt Ryan surprised a lot of people this season, including Falcons fans. You can say you knew he was going to be awesome, but you'd be lying. And so would most of their front office. Nobody knew he was going to be good, or even remotely decent. Taking him was a risk that they had to take. Without a high profile pick like Ryan, they'd never have a chance at removing the stench that Vick left when he went to prison.

The real test to see if the Falcons have really turned a corner will be this next season. Every team has their time in the sun. It's the teams that can sustain it over a few years that really prove their worth. Hell, even the Browns looked pretty good last season.

same goes for your team last time i checked you have also yet to have back to back seasons?

You would be correct. The Panthers have never had back to back winning seasons.

My point was mainly that overly obnoxious Atlanta fans seem to swarm every message board in record numbers when the team sees success. When it's failure, they magically disappear.

I would make an excuse for the Panthers, saying that they're still a very young team in comparison to the Falcons. However, at this point, I don't think that argument holds any ground, personally. Honestly, I don't believe that there really is an excuse for the Panthers lack of season-to-season success.

Not that I'm even remotely on topic anymore, but it's either going to happen, or we'll have a new coaching staff here one year from now. :)

i'll admit we got a little lucky with ryan, but hiring the coach of the year, and signing the runner up in mvp voting michael turner and mike smith was pure genius also getting a GM that was director of scouts in the patriots orginzation were all genius moves.

i really dont think jake sucks and i think u guys are being a little harsh on him, i tried to stay classy at first but a little poo talklin came out, so i apolagize that statement was uncalled for. i think your team has alot of promise.

Those who live in Atlanta have to play with the hand we're dealt. Some Atlantans view Charlotte as "Atlanta, but 10 years ago". Agree with you about dirtier.

The funny thing is that I can wander all over town wearing Panthers gear, and nobody cares. But wear it on game day, and all the haters come out of the woodwork to say some really vile things. At the game at the Dome this year, which was not a competitive game, you would not believe the crap that was being thrown into my face just for walking up from my seats or back to my car. I think a lot has to do with the aforementioned "vick" mentality, as not all fans are like that... but there were plenty. Sure, we lost pretty badly, but at that point in the season the Panthers were still 2 games on top of the division IIRC.

At one point there was a snot-faced 10-year-old kid (with his family) who started in with stuff like "yeah, hope you enjoy that long ride home, asshole". I calmly walked up to him and said "thank you for your generous hospitality. I enjoyed myself at the game, even though we lost. Looking forward to next year's game. By the way, my long ride home is about 15 minutes away since I live here, so I probably will enjoy it" The kid went berserk, and the parents realized that the kid was way, way out of line. I know I'm not really doing the story justice on how foul-mouthed and spittle-ridden this kid was, but one has to wonder where he got the 'tude from.

Tailgating was fine. It's the post-game that's a problem.

Maybe it's just a smacktalk thing - not everyone is into doing that. I'm not. I'd rather joke around with the people around me, having fun. No need to get all stupid. (this holds true for any fanbase)

Just a simple question, ive noticed alot of threads since ive been here calling the falcons fan base all sorts of names.

The reason I ask this is, from my expierence most NFL fanbases are the same, Im sure there are falcons fans that come here and rub every loss you guys have in your face, i know there are falcons fans who are very unclassy.

that being said guys there are some pretty unclassy panthers fans, saints fans and bucs fans too. that rub losses in our face, that were on our message boards given us grief last year when obviously we were having a bad year.

I think you guys started really not liking our fanbase, when we had an unclassy QB and you guys thought the majority of our fanbase, took to his personallity, wich some did, and is understandable.

but I served 3 years in fort bragg in the army in N.C surronded by panthers fans, and trust me the ppl in both states are alot alike, except we pull for a different team.

just wondering why u guys think the falcons fans are more unclassy then any other teams fanbase?

Just a thought, after reading through these posts, I wouldn't come in here and ask a question about why we hate the Falcons' fanbase and then let some "unclassy" people cause you devolve into slandering the Panthers.

I actually have really grown to like the Falcons this past year. I think Matt Ryan is a good QB that keeps his mouth shut. You've turned Roddy White into a Pro-Bowl caliber receiver. Michael Turner is just a beast. Jerious Nerwood is...well....a Reggie Bush wannabe. John Abraham is justly feared and Mike Smith has transformed you into a legitimate force. Of all the NFC South, I'm most worried about facing the Falcons next year.

Oh, and Panthers > Falcons. (Sorry, needed to throw that in there with all the love I just dished ATL)

envy of a far better city, entertainment wise, football wise, baseball wise bascketball wise and employment wise is a terrible thing, you really shouldnt hate.

Under the guise of a sincere, heartfelt question, you came in to provoke a response so you could talk smack. So not only are you an atl fan, you are a troll. Now like I said, go away.

If the roles were reversed, you were a Panthers fan and went on the AFMB with your "sincere" question you would have been banned by one of your beloved "mini mods" before you ever got the chance to start running your mouth. Falcon fans suck!

I also hate how people in Atlanta call it "Hotlanta".

"Hot 'Lanta" is an instrumental song performed by the Allman Brothers Band. It debuted on their live album At Fillmore East, which was released in July 1971. It is the fifth song on the album. "Hot 'Lanta" is a nickname of Atlanta, Georgia.

The more you know.

    • This was a good breakdown from Daniels.  Last year has had a lasting impact on Young. He still isn't getting the time needed from the OL - the OL we have is made to establish the run and for the run to be in play.  We get behind and have to throw all game we are doomed with this O-line. His receivers have to catch the ball when he makes a good throw to them, he can't have them dropping his good passes. Why are we running 4 slants all toward the same direction?  Why a triple option on 4th and 1? That's on the coaches. Bryce gets hurried and starts slinging the ball where it shouldn't be thrown, more study and recognition from him are needed.  Bryce doesn't step up in the pocket and throws too soon and unbalanced.  He over and under throws the ball because of it.  That's on him.  If the pocket isn't there and he can't get his base set he needs to check down or "live to fight another day." He has been thrown to the wolves and has lost his confidence.  This team doesn't have much, if any, talent and it's a cluster.  I think he can still be an NFL QB.  Maybe not a QB1 in the short term, but if he has a chance with better coaching and personnel he may be better than we are giving him credit for. I think we ruined him last year and have not fixed anything to help him this year.  If we can't run or get way behind all NFL defenses are coming after him.  Dalton has more respect and defenses didn't always sell out to get to him because he'd hit a quick slant, screen, or check down because he has the experience to know what's coming and what to do. Just my 2 cents.
    • All depends on who the backup is. Josh Allen probably would have been benched too if there were better backups than Matt Barkley and Nate peterman.
    • Where did I once say we should draft him because he's a projected Top 5 pick?   That's one of my many problems with you, your reading comprehension skills are very poor (and/or you just don't care to use your brain, one of the two).  I solely used that to point out that me pushing T-Mac isn't some absurd homerism, that at least I'm pushing someone who is deserving of a Top 5 draft pick. And despite me explaining it to you numerous times, you still seem to not grasp how QB's get placed in mock drafts vs draft grades.  They are treated entirely different in mock drafts to any other position, because of how teams generally treat them in the draft because of how important the position is. Literally any other position except QB, mock drafts generally follow draft grades with some team needs factored in.  But with QB's, draft grades are generally disregarded and they ALWAYS put a few QB's at the very top of the draft, because that's just usually what happens.  The exact same thing happened in 2022 with guys like Pickett and Willis widely being Top 10 picks in mock drafts, only for Pickett to fall to what, around 20?, and Willis going in the 2nd round (and even being the 3rd QB if I remember correctly too). The overwhelming majority of draft experts are saying there isn't a high first round grade on these QB's, but they still get mocked there because they're trying to predict how the draft will actually go. That's been my point the entire time, reaching for a QB in a bad QB draft when you have a roster as depleted of talent as ours, does not tend to work out well. And I've never said I'm not open to other players, I've very explicitly said that if a QB or DE stands out come draft time, I'm open to that discussion.  That I'd be open to Hunter as a CB but I prefer a WR over a CB at the top of the draft.  But we're also not talking about the 15th pick here where there could realistically be all sorts of possible picks to discuss.  With the first pick, there really would only be a small handful of options, T-Mac is head and shoulders above any other given our current roster and state of the franchise in general.
