Burden is far better than Golden.

Sometimes by this time of the process, we devalue the names that were top of the boards and go for the flavor of the week.  I get that.  I was just stirring the pot because Golden made some money at the Combine and I can only imagine how Morgan and Canales might react.  Here is a question for you that requires some stereotyping:  Do you think Burden has the better chance to be a #1 WR than Golden?

Well we might as well draft a 3rd baseman in round 1 if the best we are going to do is Matthew Golden.

The point was we are going to draft a WR in round 1 based on the lack of attention at the position so far---Golden is rising and he could be a player we move back to get or reach for--Most likely not, but what is your position, considering the roster right now--and considering our track record with second-round WRs--that the Panthers draft a WR in round 1?  Any you should provide reasons--I would love to hear them--this is a stunt to pick brains, actually.

If Graham is gone, I wouldn't mind Warren or Johnson. Both are plug and play and add immediate talent.

Lotta love for Warren here.  I am not high on a TE at 8--heck, last year Bowers did not go until around 12 or 13.  Plug and Play is a good point, and we could run some double tight with (in my opinion) two very effective TEs.  If it were down to those two, I think I would go with Johnson and have the best CB tandem--especially if we do not get a plug and play edge.  There are many ways to go....

Return of the “smokescreen”. Huddle classic, I get it.

i don’t think they are doing any covert operations here. If it’s offense, it’s Tet or Warren. But it’s likely to be one of those Georgia guys as an OLB, it’s the safest bet and probably where I would go if we stay at 8. Maybe even Starks at S if we trade down, although I’d feel the same about that as taking Golden.

The wide receiver class this year is weird. You don’t see a lot of route separation on film. Restrepo is pretty good at it, Lacy is good at it but may have to play in prison league. Tet makes all his plays on “fug it Tet is down there somewhere” broken plays. Golden uses timing and speed changes to get him some space, but I’d like some of his routes to be more intentional. I also don’t think you can go in thinking track record. And it’s not just WR, outside of Kalil it’s been a train wreck for pretty much everything in R2 for us.

I would say, based on our history--CB has also been pretty good in round 2  Jackson and Bradbury--but I get your point.  I like Restrepo as well.  Bech, but I have not watched him that much--maybe that is the play.   Not really saying smokescreen, but found it odd that they have not focused on WR in free agency and there is no evidence of top WRs in the draft are scheduled--I am guessing pro days will be active, and I am also guessing that we really don't have accurate data about contact/meetings.  Pretty much hearsay.  Thanks for the feedback.  Interesting.

I actually think this is a pretty good WR class depth wise.  It may not have elite guys at the top (the only one being TM in my opinion), but it’s got some guys who can be very good starters.

Recievers who can probably be gotten in the second round like Tre Harris, Isiah Bond (Xavier Worthy clone) Luther Burden, and Jack Bech (who’s getting a lot of Kupp/Lad comps) would be great additions to this team.

Everyone notices Goldens ascension to the top half of round one, but I would still be very hesitant to take him over McMillan.  Regardless we all agree WR has been and now is our most pressing need.  I hope they don’t telegraph it that much by picking up some talent in FA otherwise we’re gonna get jumped at the draft.
