but didn't we bring in more guys? its definitely an issue not to be ignored, but to say he ignored it this year would be false

we brought in rookies. Generally speaking, rookies aren't immediate problem solvers.

Since '05, we haven't had a #2 WR, I think the dead horse beating is Fox continuing to IGNORE that position... Golic has a valid point to continue to beat that dead horse.. it's pathetic..

Fox is ignoring the position?

I'd argue that Hurney has been the one ignoring the position.

Fox is the head coach. He does have some input, but so does the head of the scouting department, and Hurney has the finial say.

Sorry to quote your thread, but I'm tired of reading how people are blaming Fox for the Panthers not having a good compliment to Steve Smith. John Fox, and his coaching staff can only work with the players they have on the team.

It's been disappointing that the players we've drafted to play receiver, have failed to to develop in the NFL. Goes to show, that getting good receivers isn't as easy as some teams make it out to be.

I beg to differ. I'm pretty sure Jordan Shipley is gonna put his name in the books this season. He's already shown off some of that flash in the preseason. And I also think you'll see Golden Tate highlights before you see Jimmy Clausen highlights (excluding the preseason of course.)

However, I do think they made the right choice in taking Clausen over Tate because it'll work out better in the long run... but regarding right now, it was pretty dumb. We need a #2... but, as most of the doubters on here will disagree, I still think Jarrett is our #2. But we could've used a really nice slot WR like Shipley. But oh well, it's all been said and done now.

And cruz had the best first pro game of any rookie receiver (this preseason). Yet he wasn't even drafted.

That being said, clausen was the right pick. I back that up by pointing out that finding a franchise qb, and beingin position to draft one, is a lot less rare than being in position to pick up a receiver that is good enough to compliment one of the best receivers in the game.

I don't know what kind of impact our rookie will have. But once again, well lean on the running game, and hopefully jarrett and the rookies can step up and make enough plays the steve isn't a one man show anymore.

It was infinitely more important to get a frachise QB than another receiver. By drafting Clausen, the Panthers increased the odds of this happening by 50%.

having the guys that are currently on the roster is not addressing the issue in any sort of way.. ignoring is a great term since we have failed to bring in either a FA (not at the end of his career) or a bunch of rookies drafted late in rounds (if drafted at all)..

When you had Brandon Marshall available and there is no attempt serious attempt talked about. I feel the term "ignore" is a great term for whatever you want to call it..

We haven't done anything to address the situation.. Bringing in Moose and Keyshawn isn't an acceptable answer.. 2 players at the end of their career is not shoring up the position that has failed to be addressed for years... and having 1 capable WR is still a huge underachievement for your "WR corp"...

I can agree with that.. Hurney's job is to bring in the talent.. Fox to coach them up.. I don't really care who's fault it is, but that the fault lies somewhere with Coach and GM.. and GM would take the blame more so than the coach.. but wtf does it take to get either to put more than 1 WR on the field..
