I would be too based on the first game, but that's one game. Moore is a notorious underachiever in the preseason and Clausen only played on preseason game. I don't care if Moore gets a preseason rating of 53, he's our starter week 1 and this loyalty fits right into Fox and co's MO. The only think Clausen can do is make the coaches more comfortable with starting him if Moore really fugs up in the regular season, he's the backup now and will be unless something big happens.

In my opinion Matt Moore needs to be CONSIDERABLY better than Jimmy Clausen in order to start. If he looks worse or about the same as Clausen then you start the rookie. Clausen is the future of this franchise, like it or not. We didn't spend our first pick of the draft on him to sit him for a few years while Matt Moore tries to improve. Right now I think Moore starts...but I think its because at this point he deserves it and is better at running this offense. However, I saw a LOT of insecurity with pressure in his face from Moore the other night in only a preseason game. When the same pressure was getting to Clausen, he made good decisions. So up to this point I think Moore starts but I think its just because Clausen hasn't taken it from him, not because Moore has cemented himself with his play.

Things could change though if one of them goes out and lights it up in the next few preseason games.

I dont understand why everyone thinks there is some chance that Clausen will start the regular season? Fox has already confirmed publicly that Matt Moore will start and deserves to start based on what he proved last season. Why would we put a rookie on the field who has never played a down in the NFL reg season over Matt Moore, the guy who saved us last year? Makes NO sense to me. I dont get why this is even being considered as an option. It aint happenin
