Fortunately the QB position will not be the anchor that drags this year's team down.

When you have this type of young talent behind center, a great running game and a huge offensive line you will always have a chance because risks are going to be taken and competition or the potential for competition will eventually prove who has the goods.

This is going to be a very fun season to watch. Keep your expectations low as fun does not directly translate into wins unfortunately. However, we still do not know where the wins will come from.

I would rather watch a team that busts its ass to grind out 6 wins than a team that slouches on its laurels and repeatedly eeks out 8 any day.

couldn't have said it better.. it could be disastrous, but it should be fun to watch.. and the season hasn't started yet...

How many of u feel that if some how someway if Matt Moore has a horrible preseason and Jimmy Clausen won the starting job, would any u guys feel like the season was over....

Personally speaking i think we in the same boat either way with both going into the season. Matt did awesome things at the end of the year, the biggest thing i saw was the fact the coaches called a better game plan for him. They established the run and it worked out. With that said.... Jimmy is a rookie i get that.... but he knows the offense inside and out, ran it well all through out his ND career and he did put of numbers... big numbers... with a weak defense... and the plus side to starting Jimmy is teams havent had all offseason to prepare for him.

Just a thought.

I think a winning season will greatly depend on whether or not we can stop the run and control clock. With our running game and line we should be fine on O. If we cant do that then we could be anywhere from 4-12 to 6-10.

Damn son, I cant believe you pulled out the AE card on this.

I thought MattyMo was guaranteed the starting job either way. The article in C.O. yesterday stated that Matt had a conversation with Fox right after we drafted Clausen where he said dont worry, your still our #1 guy. You deserve the job after what you proved to us last season- or something along those lines. why would we give the starting job to a rookie whos never played a regular season NFL down over a guy who proved himself and brought us back to .500 last season?

True in did.... Truth be told I dont care who is starting at QB between the two. As long as we run it and run it well. Our defense is going to look like the Colts D when the guys get it together. Ron Meeks has never been one to focus on stopping the run. Just pressure from the front 4 and force the ball out the QBs hand quick.

I agree, you can't just expect a so many rookies and extremely young players to step up and play like vets, some will but most wont and simply can't because they are much too young. They haven't made their mistakes yet. If it were this easy and cheap every team would be doing it. This is different than just a QB change.

I am hoping for a 8-8 record this year and hope a few players really make an impact in their positions so we can get a head start in the building process. To realistically try and see something more than that is surprising but not impossible.

But the past few rookie qbs have come in and did well because they had the right pieces around them. Why not us? and for all the talk about Jimmy knowing the offense it shows. He had great numbers in college with this offense. Now he has a great line, and great running attack, and a go to guy in Smitty. I all for experience being behind center, but if the talent is there to use why not? I think we can be that dark horse this year. WE NEED A RECEIVER TO STEP IT UP.
