Worst Ken Lucas Game As A Pro

I don't know if it's fair to put all of the blame on Lucas. There was no safety over the top on most of the big passes he's given up, which leads me to question if Godfrey is getting out of place too often. Don't get me wrong, Lucas isn't playing well but neither is the secondary as a whole (with the exception of mostly good play from Gamble).

yea, its brutal. but i admit i do like the practice we will be getting while we are getting ready for a playoff run. i would rather play tough playoff caliber teams than creampuffs right before the playoffs. maybe the secondary will have a chance to get some good game film to figure out what they are doing wrong.

Good point. This last tough stretch is at least preparing the team for playoff caliber teams.

Re-watch the highlights. On both big plays, Lucas was one on one. And he let him get in the endzone for the 2nd TD. He was getting siked the hell out of on the fakes, he was falling down/couldn't keep his balance. He was getting picked on, and still couldn't do anything

Then got benched

THEN DANTE WESLEY CAME RIGHT IN AND GOT BACK TO BACK INT'S, BUT DROPPED THEM. THATS EMBARRASSING FOR LUCAS TOTALLY

Im not putting all the blame on him because our pass defense has been horrendous since ARI game

Lucas and Marshall both bit on one of the long balls. So not all of Lucas's fault. Lucas's awareness on another one was all his fault. He slipped, but made it back to Bryant and could've easily had an INT... but once again looked lost as hell.

He doesn't seem to be able to make any plays on any passes, QBs could throw anything his way uncontested. It really confirms my suspicions of it being him when Wesley comes in and defends 2 passes for almost INTs.

I say we stick w/ Wesley to start next game and see how much of a difference that makes. It's just becoming way too common of Lucas getting killed out there and I hate to see the trend continue this late in the season.

Basically, you just said back to me what I had already stated. I said that Lucas wasn't playing well but it isn't all his fault.

Bryant looked good because of Lucas' crappy play. Playing 20 yds off receivers is bad enough, but to sit there and argue with the ref while the guy you didn't cover walks into the endzone is unthinkable.

Bryant has been playing well all year, not just last night.

Btw, wasn't there a thread about Lucas possibly not playing? Could he have been hurting last night?

Also instead of playing hard on that drive, they drove all the way down and score because of us playing prevent D

We running time, not preventing points. Wtf. Let your offense run the clock down

if we had any resemblance of a defence we would truly be unstopable... its got me worried for the playoffs. we didnt make one stop when it counted.

Burned twice for TWO 50 YARD PASSES. Resulted in total of 10 points

Then he got holding penalty on punt return which put us on the 10 instead of 20

THANK GOD FOR J. STEW AND D.WILL

.. ITS OK, GO ON AND THANK THEM

Edit: They took Lucas out at the end and put Dante Wesley in... who came up with back to back dropped INT's. Lucas wont be here next year

Wesley with some practice may come up with those, but that first one would have been hard to catch, the second I don't know what happened, my dvr stopped recording at that moment so I can't go back and review it

i give lucas one more chance like biggie smalls,if he continues to get thoroughly smash we gotta bench him,our line is doing there job.

we got one game to fix the bullshhh that's goin on in the secondary, before we play the giants.let us hope this is fixed

btw for anyone trying to justify lucas poor play because of bryants skill,200 YDS 2TD that means smith anit shhh compared to bryant, there is no excuse for a 200 yd game by a scrub.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
