Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract

I still think AT is just too old and slow given what Bryce is and what our O likely has to be.   Sure, he has great hands and is reliable and all that.  But in a Bryce Young O......you can't have the slot and that area of the field dominated by a guy that can't do anything after the catch.

My guess is this is almost like a restructure. This moves probably frees up some cap space this season, but he gets a little bump while while taking the cap hit down the road.

rework adds to his cap number this year (which they view as his last here).  It's just a reward.  That's at least what Joe Person says.  So maybe 50/50 at being correct.

I really want a mid round slot WR who is already a route tree, YAC guy WITH PROVEN COLLEGE PRODUCTION. Not a allstar, but a smart, hard-worker. There's always a handful of these guys in the 3rd and 4th rounds that go on to have solid careers.

I have not done the research this year to know who that guy is, but am open to opinions.

There is always a spot on a roster for a slot receiver that you know will find a way to convert  crucial 3rd and 4 with the game on the line. Happy for AT, he also might have been on the line for retirement and we did this to solidify one more year back.
