Do you make Tiger Woods your Captain's Choice for Ryder Cup?

I would not. He is not playing consistently right now and he's never been that good at match play anyway. Plus he's a douche and a bad example... :D

These are the guys I would choose...

Stewart Cink

Zach Johnson

They may need a replacement for Anthony Kim too... he's still out with that thumb injury.

I say if he wants to be on the team (which apparently he does), then you put him on the team. From a business standpoint, it is good for ratings. From a non business standpoint, maybe a Ryder Cup is just what Tiger needs at this point. Honestly though, whatever Pavin decides is probably the right choice. Tough decision.

I guess it really depends on what the Captain traditionally bases his choices on. If it's based on performance in 2010, Tiger should not be on the team. Yes he's 12th in points, but he just shot +18 in a tourney two weeks ago and he's been hurt twice this year.

Maybe if he comes back and plays good the next couple of weeks, pick him...

In all reality however, he'll be on the team... he's still ranked #1 in the world and he's Tiger.

Yes. He's still much better than Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink. And he's MUCH MUCH MUCH better this year than those two in Majors.

Zach just finished T3 at the PGA and Cink finished T18... Tiger finished T28 and shot a +18 last week... and as Meat says, Tiger has never played very well at the Ryder cup or any other match play tourney. If I'm remembering right, I'm pretty sure he was knocked out early in the last two Accenture Match Play Championships he played in.

There is his past record in the Ryder Cup to consider, though.

I say it's a tough call, but the talent is too much to pass on. Pavin will get ripped either way if it fails.

It's a moot discussion anyway as Pavin picked him... I figured he would.

Saw a graphic on SportsCenter that in the 4 Majors this year, Johnson is something like +28 and Woods is -3.

    • Regardless I can't imagine we draft two edge rushers.
    • The players who will be available to us with those picks are irrelevant because it's still not a good trade.  And for at sam that has a recent history of making bad draft pick based trades, all this trade would do is make teams continue to low ball us in trade offers because it's clear we get pushed around. And it being that type of draft is also exactly why it's a terrible trade, because it's a bit of a crapshoot draft, so every pick you move down, makes you more likely to make a wrong pick than a right one.  Even over drafting a player is a smarter move, because it means we are still taking someone we REALLY believe in, which in a draft like this is more important than value, because it gives you a better chance of hitting on the pick. All of that is also before you even dig in further and see that this is proposing a trade with the Falcons. If we're allowing a divisional opponent to move up from 15 to 8 to take someone they clearly badly want, you need to make them bleed for it.  I made my comments before realizing it, and still stick by that trade package if it was a non NFCS team, now knowing it's the Falcons, if we're going from 8 to 15, I want next year's 1st and 2nd as well as this year's 2nd, anything less and they can go kick rocks.
    • If we aren’t sold on anyone at 8, this would be a good trade imo. We would get a really good player at 46. This is an unusual draft with a lot of really good players from 10-50.
