Per Yasinskas: Quarterback Competition?

I don't agree with you on this AT ALL!

The pass to Moore should not have been an interception, that was a great pass and catch! The interception was not his fault and take a look at the pass back into "traffic" all you see are panthers standing around absolutely NO threat of being picked off...that is what you call a heads up play and you see wily old vets like Brett throw those all the time! Why do you have so much hate for Clausen?

The pass to Moore was tipped by the defender so of course it could have and should have been intercepted. The pass that was intercepted was thrown too far inside and too high. Should have been further outside and lower so it would have been a tough interception instead of a cake walk.

And finally the pass back across the backfield into traffic could have easily been tipped or the back could have been legitimately blocked given they were behind the line of scrimmage. He was lucky against a poor secondary. Lets see how he fares down the road.

BTW: Do you really want to use Brett as a example of what to do? His boneheaded pass back across the middle cost them a chance to play in the Superbowl last year.

I don't have hate for Clausen, I think he did a fine job for his first scrimmage. My responses are only to those of you who are blowing his accomplishments way out of proportion which I believe is totally unrealistic. I have gone down the next best greatest thing a time or two and find that it may just take more to impress me these days.

Well, I just watched the replay again on NFL.com, exact time is 1:30 on the replay if you wanna check it, pass was NOT tipped by the defender from what I can see in that replay! I am 35 and my sight is not what it used to be for sure so...

Also, the pass that was intercepted..to high? And to the inside? Ball was caught waist high by the defender and right on the sideline...if it were inside it would have hit the falling receiver in the head!

Edit: P55, you were right, ball was a little high, definelty above the waste but still wasn't inside. It's in that same highlight, I keep watching it over and over to see if I can see the defender tipping that pass

And I just use Brett but there are several QB's that do that...the panthers have been eatten up by the play over the years, roll out and throw across the grain...its nothing new!

I love how this topic gets so many panties twisted. They are both average at best at this point. It will take many more snaps before we know eho should play or not and in the meantime they will err on the side of the elder which is exactly what should be done.

This topic is getting so ridiculous people in this thread are no longer leaning on one game to predict the future but on a single play... Panther Fanz crack me up.

I'm just extremely bored at work today so this helps pass the time, have to talk about something...why not this?

It must be your sight then as you admit. Defender clearly jumps up and should catch the ball but it goes through his hands lol. The replay video on nfl.com doesn't show it nearly as well as you can see in a recorded copy of the game.

Errr... you did watch that play right?

The INT was because the receiver fell down as he cut back to finish the route.

In other words... it was clearly not Clausen's fault.

Noted. And my post was dripping with sarcasm. But let's not get all comfortable and forget about the INT's that can pack more sand in the vaginas around here than a Peppers thread.

At the end of the day - give me the QB who throws it to the right jersey the most. I don't care what his last name is.

Yes I admitt that, and the defender does jump up but the ball is just out of his reach; right?

Didn't most of Tebows passing yards come at the end of the game when the defense was playing a soft zone and giving him all of the underneath stuff?

Yeah about like Clausen getting some of his in the last 2 minutes of the half. Also with all the checkdown stuff, they don't usually gameplan to stop that untikl the regular season.

But honestly i give up. It doesn't matter how much I try to be the voice of reason here. The fanatics are running this thread.
