I wasn't comparing games, I was comparing Clausen to The Golden Calf of Bristol only. And Clausen was playing against the 2s, 3s, 1s, and whoever they could cobble together with all the injuries Baltimore had in the secondary. You will see this week, most secondaries will be much better than Baltimore. And I thought Clausen despite his stats has some fundamental problems as well which is why I compared them.

And I think I said that The Golden Calf of Bristol was a project as well. My point was Denver isn't rushing The Golden Calf of Bristol and he looked better than Clausen. Don't see why folks are rushing Clausen either.

Didn't most of Tebows passing yards come at the end of the game when the defense was playing a soft zone and giving him all of the underneath stuff?

Wrong, look at the replay, ball was out of the reach of the receivers hands, it was tiped by Moore and caught by more...the ball was thrown only where the receiver could catch it...at least thats the way it looks in every replay I have seen...Also, seems like analyst would be talking about how terrible that play was instead of showing it as highlights and saying how great it was! Am I wrong here? Was it not tiped by Moore and caught by Moore?

Double coverage? I can't find anything on youtube, didn't look that hard either, but I only remember one guy covering that play...the guy that intercepted it when he fell down?!

So when vets do it and its a great heads up play there is nothing wrong with it but since it was a rookie he gets docked? Lets see if that hold that play against sir Brett when the HoF comes knocking

Look at the highlight on NFL.com of the tipped pass. It was where only Moore could catch it. Tipped by him and caught by him. There was no double coverage on the other play. Not sure where that starting coming from but that was false.

Clausen is on the bench 2-3 years if Moore gets us to the NFCCG and maybe just the playoffs.

There is no way in hell Clausen stays on the bench for 3 years. Do you really think Matt Moore can get us to the NFCCG game this year? I like to be optimistic but..uhh..

Those reports of him being light years better than Clausen stopped after the Panthers had their first scrimmage. People stopped saying there was a true QB competition around that time as well and everyone just assumed Moore was a lock to start all of this season. After that game, and now after the first preseason game, people are starting to say there is a QB competition.

Factor in how the front office feels about him and you know he will play sooner or later. Hurney almost cried on tv after drafting Clausen. They have been nothing but ecstatic when talking about him.

I don't see how anyone can honestly think the Panthers will keep Clausen on the bench for 2-3 years of his 4 year contract. Matt Moore is gone after this year in all likelihood. He plays well, we can't afford to keep him. He plays bad, nobody will start him.

And for everyone who keeps talking about Clausen with the two's and Moore with the ones... Moore would have looked bad on the twos as well with that offensive line. They block nobody. I see no reason why Clausen wouldn't have done just as well as Moore with the ones that game with a better offensive line. Clausen likely wouldn't have been blasted and fumbled like Moore did either since Clausen was reading the defense very well.

Maybe the speed of the game doesn't affect Moore anymore since he has been here a while and he is ahead of Clausen on that, but Clausen definitely reads a defense and makes pre-snap reads better than Moore does and he is only a rookie.

I was right with you up to the bolded part. Lets not forget that Gross single handedly ruined one Moore drive and the blocking for the 1s was no better or worse than the 2s.

And lets hold off on deciding that Clausen makes better pre-snap judgements and reads defenses better than Moore at this point. Baltimore did blitz alot but didn't gameplan for Moore or Clausen at this point. You are reading way too much into this in Clausen's favor. Lets see what happens in week 3 and 4 after teams do at least some basic gameplanning. Clausen could have easily throw 3 picks the other night. I doubt anyone would have been touting his great defensive reads then.

Your're right it was single coverage but it was a 50/50 chance of defensed or caught. I'll not dock him.

Go watch that replay again. The defender leaps up and can't quite catch it. It goes through his hands and and Moore showing great ball awareness catches the tipped ball.

Errr... you did watch that play right?

The INT was because the receiver fell down as he cut back to finish the route.

In other words... it was clearly not Clausen's fault.

I love how this topic gets so many panties twisted. They are both average at best at this point. It will take many more snaps before we know eho should play or not and in the meantime they will err on the side of the elder which is exactly what should be done.
