lol its the first preseason game and clausen played against the 2s....jeez

Saying somebody looks good, is different than saying they are better than somebody else.

Clausen did look better than Moore. His awareness was better, his attitude was better, his preparedness was better.

Was it against the #2s? Yes. BUT Clasuen made more of his opportunity than Moore did, at least during the first exhibition game... and the club is impressed. Enough said.

1.Yes you were saying that rookies do respectable which the facts show was wrong for 3 of the 5 rookies you noted. And if you look at Rodgers, Brady and Romo you will see that in fact grooming rookies does make them better when they actually start.

Again we have to disagree:

1) Brady actually started a few games as a rookie didn't he? Then given the reigns the following year?

2) You name only a few but if you look at possibly the best QB's of All time they all started as rookies (since you like stats)

a) Dan Marino

B) Peyton Manning

c) Joe Namath

d) Matt Rayn (yes he is a very very good QB)

e) Johnny Unitas

f) Greg Cook

h) Edit: Since I like Brett Farve so much I may as well add him here as well...started a couple of games as rookie

The list goes on and on, get the idea? Its not about how long you have played in the league its about talent...doesn't matter when you start rookie or not, you either have it or you don't have "it"

Tom Brady didn't start any games as a rookie. Completed 1 pass his rookie year. Sat the bench behind a vet.

Peyton Manning went 3-13 with 28 picks as a rookie.

Those 2 are will be argued as top 5 all time QBs when all is said and done.

as for another guy who might be argued top 5....

Brett Favre did not complete a single pass as a rookie.

Your list doesn't seem accurate.

Yeah about like Clausen getting some of his in the last 2 minutes of the half. Also with all the checkdown stuff, they don't usually gameplan to stop that untikl the regular season.

But honestly i give up. It doesn't matter how much I try to be the voice of reason here. The fanatics are running this thread.

Your reasoning isn't much better. You have beaten the "seniority" argument to death and refuse to believe that a rookie QB could be better than a QB with a few years experience despite the fact that exceptional rookies win starting spots at just about every position in the NFL every year.

If you were talking about Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or someone with more than 10 years in the league I would be inclined to believe you. But you are talking about a 26 year old QB that is relatively untested. We all agree that he has won a few semi-meaningful (at best) games and deserves to start the season. In my opinion it is "fanatical" to think otherwise.

But it's not fanatical to be excited about a kid that just came off of three years of private tutoring from Tom Brady's quarterback coach. He's locked in for four years and could easily be the future of this franchise. So the pressure is on Moore to excel. You are seeing these threads because he didn't silence the mob last week. If he does this week, all will go back to the way things were a few weeks ago and everyone will be happy...

First off, I never said they were Great or even Good their rookie year, only that they at least started ONE GAME

Secondly, you mean to tell me out of that list you only think 2 QB's are in the top 5? please name your top five!

Talk about picking and choosing your facts...

First of all, you are right Brady was playing behind a SEASONED VETERAN who was near the prime of his career and had taken his team to a Super Bowl.

Second of all, yes Peyton Manning threw a few pics his rookie year. He also passed for around 4,000 yards with 26 touchdowns and set multiple NFL rookie passing records. Bad example for you to use...

Third, Brett Favre was in a noted feud with Jerry Glanville the entire season and as a result never played. Glanville all but said he wished the Falcons had never drafted him and traded him after his rookie season to the Packers. Well, we all know how that turned out..

I was responding to someone who claimed Brady and Favre started muliple games as rookies. They had a combined 1 pass completion there rookie seasons.....not a single start. They were using them as examples of QBs who played as rookies.....they never did.

I wasn't giving examples, I was pointing out the examples used were not good.

you stated they started multiple, they started ZERO.

Favre didn't start a game and never completed a pass his rookie year

Brady didn't start a game. Completed one meaningless pass.

bad examples is all b/c they never did what you implied.

No you're not, cause I never claimed that! Were do some of you get this information from...I simply stated QB's that started as a rookie not started every game, not started 3 games, etc

And did Brett not start 2 games for ATL in 1991? His rookie year?

I apologize then and should have read the context closer. My bad.
