Would we, or could we afford to trade for this guy? Healthy, he is a #1 WR. We need receiver help. He's young and fits what we are looking for in the draft at that position. Thoughts? If they would take this year's 2nd, and maybe 4th would he be worth that? I'm thinking if we trade the 8th pick and get another 2nd or 3rd then this wouldn't hurt so much. We can recoup one of the picks we give SF by trading back? Just something to ponder.

No, lol. For several reasons.

First, the 9ers won’t trade him since they already traded Deebo.

Secondly, his contract is bonkers and the assets needed to acquire him would be way too much for a currently injured receiver. He is good, just not worth the trade.

We’re better off using our 8 pick on the best WR available in the draft.

TMac carries way too high of odds of being another Panther WR that doesn't get open.

Seriously rather get Burden or Golden we need speed and playmakers we have big body WRs they just need to be coached up.  Jalen’s on a path to high production already we really need to focus on Big Country and it’s not like he wasn’t a catch away or a concentration moment away from multiple big moments as a rookie. If he progresses as many players do this season we should see him making those plays and in turn being our big body high point catching WR along with TE Sanders.

I don’t see XL being a top level split end. I’d rather have him in an off ball move position. He was physically bullied multiple times last year. Your team will be handicapped if your on ball receiver is getting his lunch taken. Plus this will free him up for crosses and easier catches he can get some YAC with. I think he’s a ball in the hand guy in the NFL. Think of Deebo, but taller and a pussy.

I don't think WR is as desperate as many here believe it is.  Post-benching Bryce didn't have any issues putting points on the board and moving the ball.  With an average to above average defense, the Panthers are a respective team.  I suspect Coker, Legette, and Sanders will be much improved with a year under their belt.  I'd love to see them grab a stud WR, but they shouldn't take on a bad contract.

I can feel you on most of that but pussy lol this a far stretch the nfl is for the elite athletes a combination of strength, speed, with size so a rookie get handled off the line isn’t a major red flag. Steve got handled early in his career his skills improved that’s what’s expected from X and that’s not a far stretch year two stronger more ready to handle press or jams more comfortable with the offense bigger impact. And he can still do those things you recommend going across the middle or quick screens especially with a field stretcher on the field. You have to respect Goldens speed he could easily stack DB for a bomb any play and if you know Canales he wants deep throws to be a staple we need a speedster who can really play WR not just a fast guy.

Aiyuk if traded will end up costing something in vicinity of what Metcalf was worth. We were in on Metcalf, I can't see us staying away from Aiyuk, unless its purely because of last years injury. If healthy, Aiyuk is top receiver in this league and somebody is gonna be glad to have him.
