Fox runs the stalest offense in football.

Awesomeness!!

What I would like to know is what kind of "exciting" offense do you want to see?

Are you looking for a triple reverse with a 30 yard pass downfield then a double lateral for a net gain of 6 yards while the OL blocks while walking on thier hands?

I think that the O Fox runs is conservative not boring. Control the clock and protect the ball, go deep if it is open.

Maybe you should try watching some CFL, I hear they do some crazy poo on offense north of the border.

not meaning trick plays but something that will make a defense respect every aspect of the offense. for instance everyone knows we are going to run the ball. why not start the game off by passing, or 4 wide sets.boom a screen with dwill first play out of that set will keep the d off balance.

If everyone knows we are going to run it, and yet we still are able to run it, then why change? Ram it down there throats.

The object is to score points, and when we have decent play at QB, we score enough points.

Because a lot more can go wrong on a pass play than can go wrong on a run.

That is straight from Fox's mouth and it is true.

The real reason though is that Fox wants to pound the D to start the game. Nothing more demoralizing than getting run on over and over and over again. Once you get the D focused on the run and that 8th man starts to creep into the box you throw deep becuase one of those things that can go wrong on pass plays is neutralized.

It is not "exciting" but it is smart and it has kept the team with a + .500 record since Fox got here.

When we throw the ball on 3rd and anything over 6 I'll rethink this thread..

I didn't say it was boring. I said it was stale, because it is predictable (like someone else said). Nothing wrong with pounding the ball, but we are a complete 180 from the EAgles. They throw bombs down the field on 3rd and 1, we hand it off on 3 and 7. I'm just asking for him to change it up a little.

Both of these could just as well result in a punt on fourth down. I get what you're saying, but Fox is and always has been a conservative coach. That's his philosophy. He prefers to play field position football than to up the risk factor.

If it looks like a Fox, and smells like a Fox, it's a Fox.

This is not rocket science here. Let's not get all caught up in semantics. Anyone who has been watching our offense since the injury of JD can't mistake this offensive play calling for being prolific. My problem has not been with Fox's fundamental philosophy. My thing is that at some key moments, where you're supposed to throw the damn ball, you act like chicken poo, and run it. You accept a three, when you could have had a seven. Moreover, Fox needs to find his mojo and adjust to the flow of the game better than he has in the recent past. Granted, Fox has had some trust issues with his QB (which is partly his responsibility), and has failed miserably at getting Smitty some help, which is mainly his fault. But, to the credit of our FO, they are trying to address these issues in earnest. They hired Meeks (who will whip our defense into the kind that will support Foxball philosophy), cut loose Jake, let Pep walk, and bought in some guys with high upside at the WR position. Moreover, the golden-haired, boy wonder fell into their laps like manna from heaven.

Fox lost his balance ["I've fallen, but I can't get up"]. The FO knows it, and that's why they have decided that the Panthers are going to have a more balanced attack this year. But, it's pre-season. The kinks are still being worked out. Let's not go willy nilly quite yet.

I don't give a sh*t if we only run one play all game. If it works, it doesn't matter how "stale" our offense is. We beat people by winning the individual battles on the field, not with elaborate schemes. Our O-linemen move your defenders to create holes, our RB's run through those holes and make DB's miss. Touchdown. I don't know about you guys but I won't ever get tired of seeing D-Will and J-Stew run at will on opposing defenses.

The OP will have a valid point when the offense we run stops working, but up til now it has been very productive.

I don't know why I didn't notice it sooner (like years ago). I noticed how we for the most part run like 5 plays all game. We change tha play ever so slighty that so it doesn't mirror the or original, but if you pay attention you can tell. The sweeps, the handoffs, the smoke passes to Smitty, and crossing patterns with the slot recievers. I don't know if its Jeff Davidson, or Fox, but my god.........

I never thought I would agree with a republican. Of coarse Ive been saying this poo for years. Welcome to the party even if you're a little late.

Man it doesn't even matter if we have a top-10 offense just running that same conservative "run the ball" bull sh*t. We need to be running half our plays of the wildcat, throw a double fake reverse in every drive, start every game with an onsides kick and line Kalil up at WR. No, it won't score, but at least it will be entertaining!
