Want a laugh?...Skip Bayless calls Clausen "A Poor Man's Jeff George"

Intangibles, I don't think so. Attitude, maybe, but a lot of that apparently came from the segment he filmed with Jon Gruden. People made way too much of that.

A lot of the really vehement Clausen hate I've seen has come from people who would hate a friendly little puppy if it was wearing a Notre Dame logo.

Yes, intangibles -Leadership. The Clausen concerns were voiced well before his sit down with Gruden. They were voiced over his time at ND.

what intangibles coming out of college are you refering to that had people impressed?

On paper Clausen was always considered by most to be the most polished/NFL ready player.....it was everything else that had people concerned.

Intelligence, toughness, leadership, poise...essentially all the on-field stuff.

The concerns I've heard people voice about Clausen have tended to revolve around his attitude off the field and in the locker room.

We've yet to see any of those sorts of things appear in Carolina though.

His leadership has always been questioned.....that was not a something that people thought highly of. Now, if you want to debate whether that was in reality true what was portrayed....that is a different can of worms. Leadership is a vast and complex trait when it comes to QBs....and at ND that had been questioned big time during different spans of his career. That carried over to the draft and was a big talking point......at least from what I heard.

I think Skip knows what he is talking about for the most part but evaluating college players and predicting how they will do in the NFL is NOT one of his strong points.

Ill bring up Darren McFadden. Skip LOVED McFadden, said he was gonna be one of the best players in the NFL. That has not worked out so far and I have a feeling he will be wrong on Clausen as well.

You could be right but if I remember correctly, Skip liked felix jones more than mcfadden...said he was overrated. He also said Jamarcus and Gholston would be busts and he loved Orakpo and i realize that they were in seperate drafts so give him some credit. He is def better at judging NBA talent though.

Skip almost always tends to be completely hit or miss. For a while he didn't like Kobe Bryant when Shaq was around in LA, and completely destroyed Kobe on air after Shaq won a championship in Miami, but ever since then he has thought Kobe is the best player in the league. Then again, that is because he has now found a new guy who is super talented to rag on, which is LeBron James.

Yep, and until lebron went to miami..skip is the only one to call lebron out on what he wasnt good at (consistent shooting, having the clutch gene)...now everyone is saying he cant win a ring without help which is what skip said the whole time
