things i wouldn't mind....

trade sutton to the 49ers (to replace glen coffee) for josh morgan.

trade sutton to the packers for jordy nelson

trade sutton to the texans for jacoby jones

zod doesn't have a bad idea here. not sure why so many people are freaking out about this idea.

I wouldn't mind that but I can guarantee you none of those are gonna happen.

Receivers are investments, they take a long time to groom.Guys like Sutton are a dime a dozen you can find them on practice squads all over the place and they can have an immediate impact.

Think of recent impact RBs that were undrafted or were on the streets recently:

Fred Jackson (2010 starter)

Pierre Thomas (2010 starter)

Ryan Grant (2010 starter)

Cedric Benson (2010 starter)

Justin Forsett (2010 starter)

Arian Foster (2010 starter)

Ricky Williams

Mike Bell

I like Sutton and all, but he has zero trade value.

I am not sure whats worse, how much Sutton is overvalued in this thread, or how little a young groomed WR prospect is valued.

Sutton's trade value isn't there. Nobody is going to give us a legit #2 WR for a 3rd string RB.

I don't mean that as a slight to Sutton at all, he's a really good player for us. I hope like hell we keep him.

Edit: dksmith beat me to it and said it better.

I'm way too concerned over Stewart's health and Goodson's effectiveness to be willing to part with Sutton.

That is exactly what I said in separate threads but couldn't quite pull together to post here. :P

Actually, I posted that we couldn't afford to trade DWill because Stewart would then be an injury away from not playing at all (a few days old thread). Adapting that to this thread... I can't see us trading any of the RB's because of possibly injury problems.

I think you undervalue Sutton. He has came out and gave his all at both RB and FB, and has done brilliant at both positions. Dime a dozen my ass; I don't even know if he has lost more than 10 yards on his carries.

This trade sceniro is an interesting concept but I feel the Panthers will go with what they have.

If a trade could have been arranged and worked out before this years NFL draft, then yes i would have been all for it.

Seemed most thought the DL was the big worry and WR could be taken care of in the draft.

Its nothing personal against him its just the current state of the NFL.

We're going to have to give up something significant to get something significant and Sutton is significant enough with the need for HB's around the league to get us something good at WR.

Like someone else mentioned, the 9ers just got on the market for a good 2nd HB...

this doesnt make sense.

the roster is filled with talent, YOUNG TALENT AT THAT.

10 Edwards, Armanti- project

12 Gettis, David- lucky to get PS, right now a #4/5

84 Guy, Trent WR-flashed here and there, PS?

19 Jackson, Dexter-returner with #4/5 abilites

80 Jarrett, Dwayne-showed what can do if a legit QB is playing. light coming on?

11 LaFell, Brandon- moose jr

83 Martin, Charly- your normal white WR #4/5

81 Moore, Kenneth- #3 WR

15 Wright, Wallace- STer with hands

18 Young, Oliver- fodder

not to mention the panthers have 3 capable TEs. You dont need if #2 if you correctly use Barnidge and Rosario. Plus goodsen could be a factor too. A #2 is waste on a run first team., its just not a value on this team.

Look at thee #3 WR over the fox era, besides a flash here and there, not much.

thee answer is already here. how about this new idea and use thee preseason to find WRs......holy jesus that will change the game, watch everyone copy my idea!!!!!!

long bomb WRs arent really a carolina game plan anyways. we are a run down the clock, wear out the defense kinda team. we have never been the explosive 80 yard TD team. so a DECENT wide reciever is ok with me as long as we have a good run game and some 7-10 yard a catch guys (TE)

AJ Smith just announced that not only does he not expect Vincent Jackson to play this season, but Jackson is in no way a part of the long term plans of the Chargers. If Jackson doesn't sign his tendor by Week 10 he will not have agrued a season and we be a RFA again in 2011. So Smith is pretty much saying to Jackson, sign the tendor and we will trade you.

In other news, the Broncos while not having a true #1 reciever have too many #2 and #3 WR on the roster and it is being reported that Brandon Stockley, formerly of the Colts, will probably get cut.

To be honest I don't see the QB or WR corp going into the season without some vetern presence being added. I think the Panthers are just waiting until after final cuts in order to get the cheapest contract for vet players. Josh McCown, I think, will be back in a Panthers uniform after his UFL season ends, especially if the Panthers are in the hunt for a division title or a payoff birth.
