Panthers will trade for a WR...

Its looking more and more likely to me. The obvious downfall of this squad this year and years to come is the lack of a legit receiver not named Steve Smith. No one likes to talk about it, but Smith is on the downward slope of his career. He will be losing a step from here on out starting last season.

Apparently drafting a WR is not our strong suit to say the least.

The only logical next step is trading one of our RB's for a WR.

It is hard to rationalize keeping 2 pro bowl caliber RB's and one extremely good RB (sutton) on the roster when we have zero depth at WR. None.

Wow! Way to tell everyone not to make pointless threads about firing Fox, start Clausen, Armanti was a wasted pick, etc. etc., but then you go and do this thread about WRs after the first preseason game?

I saw flashes from K. Moore and I know that Jarrett would perform to expectations if he actually was put on the field more than once a game.

Besides, who are you going to get, right now if we can trade Sutton (or even Williams if possible), that is better than our current crop of 2nd and 3rd string WRs? What you would get is trading away a RB for future picks, not a starter this season.

Its probably been mentioned in this thread and in others, but, if we were going to have made a move for a viable starting WR, we would have done it months ago. Boldin or Marshall would have been nice, TO for a one year deal would have been affordable, and I'm sure there were teams that would have been willing to make a deal with us before the draft (or during) if we had tried to make a trade. But they didn't. We have 4 very solid WR prospects right now: Moore, Jarrett, Wright, and Lafell, and in that order (for me at least). Two of those guys hardly played last night so why don't we freak out in 2 weeks after our third preseason game?

Not sure why. I just asked a simple question that angers people when they realize the honest answer.

Mostly because you told us Kurb would ban us if we made the same threads. :P

I have hateful PM's to prove it. lol

Oh god please show them.

Not sure how saying we need to trade for a legit #2 equates to the sky is falling. You weirdos.

Because we have a #2 WR on the team. We saw it at the end of the year last year when Moore came in at QB. Jarrett and Kenny both played well when the ball was actually thrown to them by a viable QB.

Its the same thing with the Moore/Clausen scenario. People are in the same mindset you are when dealing with our QB situation. For example,

"For years Delhomme's not been a reliable QB and he's on the decline. The obvious downfall of this team this year and years to come is the lack of a legit QB not named Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. No one likes to talk about it, but Moore is an undrafted QB and we've seen his full potential and its not great. We'll see how bad he is once he plays a legit team in week 1.

Apparently drafting a QB is not our strong suit to say the least, until now in Jimmy Clausen.

The only logical step is start Clausen and trade one of our RBs for a viable veteran backup QB.

It is hard to rationalize keeping 2 pro bowl caliber RB's and one extremely good RB (sutton) on the roster when we have zero depth at QB. None."

You didn't specifically say it in the OP but you are worried that without a solid/legit/exceptional/superb/awesome #2 WR we will be in the gutter the next few seasons, including this one.

I just thought of a great example of a wide-out who took some time to develop: Miles Austin. Unknown guy before the Chiefs game last year, but Bill Parcells knew when he left Dallas this guy was going to be special. Now look at him. He would be the best receiver in the state of Texas other than Andre Johnson. Worrying about Edwards and Lafell, even Moore at this point is ludicrous.

it was the implication you made when we need to trade a solid RB (who contributes everywhere on the team) RIGHT NOW. What else would you be implying? Are you saying we'll be fine this year but in two or three we won't unless we get a WR? Without even giving the people we have a look?

The goal is getting to the playoffsl. Not having a solid second WR will prevent us from that. I don't think any John Fox team will ever be in the gutter.
