Matt Moore looked bad, Clausen looked great, OL Pass block horrible

of course I'd start a thread about Clausen right after you did, but I'll take another opportunity to sing his praises here. He had hardly anytime and made something out nothing on more than one occasion. It seems the announcers last night took notice, he's the topic of conversation around the water cooler at work today and somehow I think some people are dismissing him because of their love affair with Moore

I don't think people are dismissing him, while he looked GREAT to me, Matt Moore also did a Great job! I'm happy with both QB play but glad Matt is our starter! Give Ole Jimmy boy a year or two watching and learning and we could have something special but don't take away from what Matt is doing either!

Yeah, Moore still looks like the better QB right now. I don't think he was great, but he'd have to be absolutely terrible to lose his spot.

Clausen made it easy to be named #2 however.

Great for him, good for us. He should only play this year in case of emergency.

It was Moore's first pass of the game. It was intended for a wide open Jeff King but was thrown out of bounds slightly behind him. Luckily it was a freebie play as Ravens LB Terrell Suggs had jumped offsides.

Yea, you are right. It was Jeff King... that was just a poorly thrown ball. He was wide open.

If Clausen plays like he did last night again next Thursday... do you give him a shot at playing against the first string defense in the 3rd preseason game? I mean, you obviously want Moore in there for the first half, but the starters usually play into the 2nd half... do you give Clausen a shot in the 3rd, or no?

can Jimmy throw a spiral? i saw a lot of ducks that could probably be attributed to a slick, rain covered ball.

Trust me when I say this from watching him extensively in college (who couldn't they were on NBC whether you liked it or not lol)..

His throwing motion is fine. Last night was a combination of rain and jitters, but mostly jitters. He is very conscious of the speed of his release right now and when he focuses on it he tends to throw the ball side-armed rather than full extension. In other words he slings the ball out rather than speeding up his natural motion. I saw him do this against Purdue last year in the two minute drill which you can see clearly on youtube. When he gets more confident in his time in the pocket you will see better balls thrown.

Moore was solid. If you watch all eight of his starts, he has developed into a slow starter, but once he finds his groove he gets better as the game goes on.

I was impressed with Clausen's arm and ball placement. If he could have gotten the ball to Lafell, 3 inches higher it would have been a touchdown.

I'm very happy with the look of our QB play on a night where our offensive line was bad (including Mackenzy Benadeau putting on the worst display of snapping i've ever witnessed)
