Pretty cruel joke...

So are you saying Smith keeps the number 1 receiver position?

Smith, Jarrett (yes, Jarrett), and Lafell might be a decent combo as the season moves on. One thing is for sure, Jarrett has some nice frickin hands. The rest of the guys seem like college scout team fodder.

Edwards and Gettis are projects. They have talent. The rest though, not so much.

Strangely enough, I thought Dexter Jackson was showing a bit of promise last night late in the game. Kenny Moore had some moments, too, where it looked like he was putting forth the effort.

Jarrett, meh, just didn't light it up for me like I would have expected, especially against Baltimore's depleted secondary. Armanti looked like he was trying, but he just looked winded. Lafell looked big out there, but a bit timid and Gettis, well, errr.

I'm beginning to think they should have got Moose his own chiropractor and the big bottle of ibuprofen and trotted him out for another year. Let's hope that the FNGs have now seen the elephant and will look a bit better next week.

Rainy night games against the Ravens are really a trial by fire scenario for a bunch of rookies.

He definitely did, but I guess that's to be expected.

I've been defending Edwards a bit, which is funny since I'm not an App fan and I wasn't very happy with that pick in the first place. That being said, Edwards seems like a very motivated person. I think he's going to bust his ass to get better.

Jarrett still looks bad to me. I know he had a catch (woo hoo) but he still seems to be thinking about his routes and lumbering through them too. The pass hit him in the numbers as he wasn't particulaly open. It was just a very good pass. I'll get off the Jarrett sucks bandwagon when he has several catches where he actually beats the coverage.

He did beat his coverage and got open twice. No other WR got open and caught anything with the 1's. The second grab was for what, 23 yards or so? (if not for Gross). Jarrett is not going to be running deep routes for homeruns.

The pass that would have been for 20+ yards Jarrett had to adjust mid air and caught a ball that was thrown slightly behind him.

I just don't get the hate. When he is put out there in games he always does pretty okay. He ain't a burner and he ain't super physical....but he can be productive and his hands are money.

That's what kills me about Jarrett. He just seems so unmotivated. I made it a point to watch him off the line more than once, and he just seemed dreadfully slow -- like he was just going through the motions since the play didn't involve him.

I don't think he is being lazy. He is big and lanky(look at the size difference between him and LaFell)and probably looks slower than he is......he is gonna have different strengths and weaknesses. He doesn't have great burst off the line, he can make up for it on other aspects.

I don't see why Edwards being winded should be expected. The two adays in the heat they have been doing are much more tiring than a handful of plays on the field.

I think nerves plays a huge role in this. During TC you aren't under anywhere close to the same amount of pressure as your first nationally televised game, preseason or not. Some players reach to this pressure more than others and I believe that it really played a huge part for Armanti. When your nervous your heart races and you don't breath correctly or efficiently leading to fatigue quicker.
