Answer this question honestly....

Yea, I had to go back and look at the record. We played App State virtually every year until Grobe took over, and they beat us a couple of times in the 90's, and a couple of times in the 80's when we were really bad. Before that, I don't know.

Just making sure that I'm not completely crazy and reading things that weren't there. :)

It is really annoying when App Fans just tell us the same things over and over. I like App football but come on guys...stop trying to defend yourselves over and over. App losing to ECU by 4 despite not having Armanti Edwards has nothing to do with the Panthers and more importantly this thread.

But the reason teams wouldn't play App state is that they were 1AA and ACC teams couldn't count the victories towards the required number of bowl victories. ASU's quality or lackthereof had nothing to do with it.

Fwiw, I like the draft pick, although I not sure he was worth giving a way a draft pick. But if he turns out to be an explosive player, then the gamble will pay off.

Huh?

Bowl eligibility in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) College Football is the standard through which teams become available for selection to participate in postseason bowl games. When a team achieves this state, it is described as "bowl eligible". Under current regulations, in order for this to occur, a team must record at least six wins in the standard twelve game schedule, which may include one win against a Division I FCS scholarship-awarding opponent, or win their conference, and the team must not be on probation.

This is a typical Panthers pick. I didn't like the pick but regardless we have him. They pick a square peg to fit a round hole and do whatever smashing with the Jon Fox hammer to get it to work (Thomas Davis). Why for the life of me the Panthers don't pick players that play there natural position in college is beyond me. That being said, some of their gambles have paid off and a lot of them haven't but I wouldn't base anything off of one game especially cutting a player. Who would have ever thought Smitty would have turned into one of the best WR in the league when he was drafted for PR/KR. Give him some time.

Those are new regulations. Back when Wake stopped playing App around 2002 or so, they could only count a win against a 1AA school once every 2 or 3 years, I can't remember which. The rule changed recently.

it takes games like last night to build on for the next few games. edwards looked too loose and jello like arms after catches, i remember one catch, he jogged out then put the jets on right into a pile, like he was thinking too much. thats to be expected but now he has footage to watch, and you know the coaches sat down with him and they all discussed his weaknesses....

i imagine he should be a litte more tighter next game and just put on the jets right away, we'll see. nothing too impressive out of wideout right now, he just looks worried about gettin lit up which should change as he gets playin time under his belt, but really no reason to freak out after the first preseason game in my opinion.

they make stuff for this type of panic attacks.....

xanax, take one, drink a beer, it'll be ok

You guys should really not judge AE right yet, It was his first NFL game and he has no experience at KR or PR or WR other then maybe high school which shouldn't even count, the kid has potential he is a freak of nature i went to ~10ish app state games, he put on a show everytime im so glad we picked him up he just needs more practice and opportunitys no doubt in my mind if we take care of him he will turn out worth it.

plus as john gruden said last night, he might even get his own wildcat package now how fun will that be to watch.
