Answer this question honestly....

Lots of people avoiding the question here. Its real simple.

If cuts had to be made today, would AE make the squad if he was an UFA?

By last nights game alone? No, he wouldn't be cut.

However, if he doesn't dazzle everyone by the end of the 4th game, yes. I mostly base this on his decent performance in the punt returning (if he muffed one punt...)

Like I said, after the end of the pre-season if he was an UFA...

draft status is not pro performance. Equating the two is silly.

Splitting hairs, are we?

Huh? AE didn't fumble any punts but I don't consider that "catching on." I am glad he didn't fumble any- I figured he would. He did have one nice return, but in general he struggles with getting up the field. This is the NFL, not that HS-level football he has been playing in recent years.

Still, he might make it as a punt returner once he figures out how to run straight ahead. He is years away from being a contributor as a WR.

So when you say "in general" you mean based on one preseason game, correct? You make quite a few generalizations based on one game, and hence sound a little like a dumbass....

i dont care what you guys say..AE is gonna make the carolina wildcat a threat. We can actually put someone back there that you dont really know what hes gonna do!..i mean if we put stewart back there...duh....if we put smitty back there...well, ok maybe you have to guess, but you'll be able to cover it man to man...with AE back there..you better cover the pass, well. he can throw brother... but dont forget the run game either cuz well burn you.

i mean, really did anyone think that jake delhomme was gonna get passed the ball??? (from the wildcat) thats just a free guy they didnt have to cover...and a stupid play on our part.

The way things look now, If AE was a UFA< would he make even the practice squad?

field goal kicker can't do kickoffs? Nope.

Fair statement and can't argue with it. I understand that AE has made some nice grabs in camp and OTA's but fewer with the pads on. It is tough that they gave up a next's years 2nd rounder for a project. He might come on strong, so far he doesn't come close to what the Patriots got out of Endleman last year.

Enough with the 8 years of high school football crap. AE beat down the opponents that were in front of him. Wake won't play App anymore because ASU beats their ass everytime.. ECU beat them last year by 4 without AE even playing. Carolina has been asked to play App for the last 10 years and they decline every offer.(but of course they'll play the Citadel and Bill & Mary).

Would a hs team play Florida this year? Would a hs team open up at Virginia Tech next year? Would a hs team beat #5 Michigan team?

4 or 5 out of 17 does not equal everytime.

But the reason teams wouldn't play App state is that they were 1AA and ACC teams couldn't count the victories towards the required number of bowl victories. ASU's quality or lackthereof had nothing to do with it.

Fwiw, I like the draft pick, although I not sure he was worth giving a way a draft pick. But if he turns out to be an explosive player, then the gamble will pay off.
