Answer this question honestly....

I honesly feel like the Panthers f**ked up the past two drafts in moving up in the draft- EB looks like a child on the field and AE doesn't look like a football player.

Agreed. I like almost all of the other picks. but moving up to get these two guys appears to be a mistake.

Greg Hardy might make up for the AE mistake this year though....dude has got some skills.

The complete trade was Boldin and arizonas 5th for Baltimores 3rd and 4th. A 3rd and 4th round for a proven physical WR that would fit in our system like a glove. But Carolina gave up a 2nd for a project who may or may not work out. They didn't want to pay Boldin.

of course not, jerry is being cheap.

You realize he has never done this right? Ok...

Sure and he looked like an athletic and talented, yet completely lost player. So to say that he is "catching on" is dishonest IMO. He looks like what I would expect from him on the first day of TC-an athletic and talented, yet completely lost player.

He is so far away from contributing at a professional level that it is scary. Chances are the Panthers will have to wait 3 years or so before they get any noticeable return out of next year's second round pick. By that time, his contract will be almost up and he may be looking to cash in.

Winning in the NFL means getting young players that can contribute early on in their careers. AE isn't going to be one of those guys.

These people defending AE at all costs remind me of the UNC fans that defended Felton throughout his time with the Bobcats.

While he did make a few bone headed mistakes, in the position he was in, the opportunity was there for him to cause a lot of grief for the Panthers and he did not! No muffed punts or kickoffs, he caught everything that was kicked his way (or let it go out of bounds)...his running and field awareness was atrocious but at least he didn't have any turnovers. For him to go from QB to PR no turnovers; I think the kid did ok :P

Lots of people avoiding the question here. Its real simple.

If cuts had to be made today, would AE make the squad if he was an UFA?

He would be cut

You should have said that in the first place. We didn't pick up Boldin because of the picks required -- they didn't want to pay his contract.

diverse talent. Panther understand it ain't gonna happen overnight when you have guys to 100% completely new things.

No he wouldn't make the squad but apply that to other guys as well. We would be cutting Jordan Gross, Duke Robinson, Everette Brown, John Beason, and Captain Munnerlyn as well using that criteria.

Getting Boldin would be a 'win now' move. Ravens are in a position to do that, Panthers not so much.

Idk, if we picked him up and kept or brought in one or two guys on D I think we'd be in a similar position as the Ravens. They weren't that much beter than us last year and we were dealing with QB issues.
