That's option two.

Jamar Williams could be an option on the weak side, but he's been banged up a lot since coming here.

True. And I, for one would like to see Norwood lined up at the line of scrimmage while playing linebacker like the Redskins did with Orakpo last year. He was very successful and ended the season with double digit sacks.

I think when they drafted Norwood, they envisioned him being what Mark Fields was (i.e. their best pass rushing linebacker and designated blitzer).

There were thoughts of converting him to a DE, but we may just have enough good DEs now to allow him to concentrate on linebacker.

From the camp reports and the game I don't think he is needed at DE right now. They should definitely try out option #2. Give the FO a call, man!

Would you prefer a starting LB corps of...

MLB Dan Connor

SLB James Anderson

WLB Jon Beason

or...

MLB Jon Beason

SLB Eric Norwood

WLB James Anderson

(Dan Connor would move back to being the backup MLB)

Not a lot of game tape yet, mind you, but going off what you've seen so far...

Tough call. There is still time to experiment with the lineup and we might see that next time around.

I will say that the situation with Davis might have to be considered here. Making Beason play at WLB only to move him again mid-season in the event Davis can come back is probably asking too much. However, I'm in the camp that believes Davis isn't coming back this season.

I thought about that, but I get the impression the team doesn't like the idea of playing Connor at either of the outside spots.

(no, I can't really back that up; it's just my read)

Yeah, they know Anderson can do a decent job at WLB so they wouldn't have moved Beason if they thought Connor could get it done at SLB, but I'd still be curious to see that configuration.

Would definitely love to have Beas back in the middle, but not sure what Norwood brings to the table other than a nice pass rush. I'm saying this while really never have watched him play LB.
