I DON'T WANT Julius Peppers to be a Panther next year....

All I'm saying is that people should be looking at the reasons why Peppers may want to leave, and for the record, I'm not convinced either way. If he does in fact want to leave, what does that say about the management of this team, especially from a coaching standpoint? Players generally want to win a Super Bowl. Great players in particular. Dan Marino has even said that he would trade some or all of his passing records for a championship. So if I see a great player that wants to leave ANY organization, in any sport, and money doesn't really seem to be the overriding factor, I tend to look at the management structure and wonder what they must be doing, or not doing, to cause this line of thinking.

I think peppers wants to leave because this scheme is terrible.

Someone please point out where he says it is not about the money. I think he may want to leave because he doesn't like the expectations placed on him. My biggest problem with giving him #1 DE money is that I think when you pay somebody that kind of money you are paying them for 1) their talent and 2) their leadership skills. IMO Peppers doesn't bring any leadership to the D. This will be Beason's D in the future.

Personally, I would like to see draft picks for Peppers. Especially if we could get a 1st and 2nd.

Get rid of Trg and Diggs and go to a 3-4 and bring in a disciple of a 3-4 DC. Go after Terrell Suggs or Bart Scott (BAL won't keep them and Lewis) or Bertrand Berry in FA. How about Farrior or Dansby (this depends on how we think Connor is). I believe that the 3-4 would be better suited for us. I would like to see Beason, Davis, and Harris rushing the QB more.

Can anyone remember the DL we had back in '96? I bet you can remember the LBs we had though. If you have good athletic LBs then it is not as vital to have the Peps of the world. Look what Porter did this year rushing the QB in Miami. 3 of the top 4 in sacks this year were OLB in 3-4 Ds.

"I want to win a Super Bowl," Peppers said. "That is the ultimate goal in this game. That is why we play. I want to be on a great team and be around great guys in a great organization. It's not about money. It's not about any of that kind of stuff. It's about being happy."

Thanks.....I'm not going to say that he is flat out lying, but he was on a 12-4 team this year and was on a pretty good team. It will be difficult for him to go to any other contender considering the cash he probably wants.

That being said it is maybe not totally for the money, but it will play a large part as it would and should to anyone else.

Of course and looking at his other quotes it appears that he knows he is going to get a massive contract and does not want to leave us in all sorts of cap hell. No I think his main gripe is with the defense itself. Either the coaches or the philosophy is causing him to not be 'happy' it seems from my perspective, or as pointed out it could be he does not like being the focal point of the team. He may prefer to be on a team with a couple of other superstars so that there is less pressure on the guy. Unfortunately expectations will go with him wherever he may go. Cause it will either be a massive contract or a massive trade causing the new fans to build up the hype.

Quite honestly I don't know what this team should do with Pep. Part of me really wants to resign him.

IDK if any of you remember, but I think it was on the second ACTUAL drive of Arizona (I say actual b/c jake the snake didn't "hand" it to them), and Warner was faced with 3rd and 15 or something after Lewis got a sack. Warner took the snap, looked around and quickly dumped it off to james to try and get good yardage. Pep, on the replay shown, was wide open to go after Warner b/c nobody was there to protect him. but instead of going off half cocked, Pep read Warner's eyes, and saw him looking at james and moved accordingly. He stopped james for a 1 or 2 yard loss instead of a potential loooooong gainer b/c NOBODY was there to stop him.

After that play I remember saying we need to pay him whatever he is worth b/c he makes plays like that. He is smart, and uses those smarts to make good plays. Rarely do you see the man make a mental mistake that leads to a long gainer or a TD.

Now the question is: do you resign him and keep what you got, or do you take the chance and use the money saved to get some players in FA (like an albert haynesworth, which wouldn't happen).

Probably the best thing to do is fire the turd and resign Pep, but that is just me.

You are basing your assumptions on idiot fans who don't know the first thing about him. You can't base an argument off of a flawed premise.

Stan, I do see your point and it is a valid argument. The fact that he may not be happy with the scheme, goes hand in hand (in a way), with being an "unhappy person" as I had stated. My point was that this same sort of questions existed at UNC as well.

Either way, Im for keeping him, at least franchising him one more year anyways.
