I DON'T WANT Julius Peppers to be a Panther next year....

I need your glass tube next time when watching a game.... are they tinted light blue with a shade of black? Sam Baker who is a rookie for ATL handled Peppers single handed in the Falcons game.... The guy got a lot of sacks but he is not as All World as some make him out to be

Peppers tied for 2nd in the league for sacks by a defensive lineman this year. He also tied for first with the number of forced fumbles. You're right, this guy stinks, get him out of here.

True in most cases, but sometimes people "work" just to make a living and do not enjoy what they do. Sometimes you have people, who just simply aren't happy people, and are miserable at whatever they do. The fact that Peppers has been known to just disappear, seems to be reclusive, avoids leadership, lends me to believe he fits the latter. Someone with incredible athletic ability, that just doesnt have drive, or isn't a very happy person.

pete

You are basing your assumptions on idiot fans who don't know the first thing about him. You can't base an argument off of a flawed premise.

Look at it this way. If Peppers does not want to be in Carolina it might be better to let him be traded away after the franchise tag. They respect him too much to franchise him and keep him for the season if he wants to leave. Now I know that they have completely different personalities but consider another dominant player who did not want to be here...

...Kris Jenkins...

Now I know Peppers simply would not act out in the same way, but it is impossible to expect him to play as hard for someone or somewhere he does not want to be. As someone pointed out, as an employer you would not want employees who do not want to be there as they eventually get lazy and their performance drops.

The one thing I am starting to suspect is that Peppers does not agree with the defensive scheme. He said he loves the players and repsects the team for what it has done for him, but is yet to say anything about the coaches or the way they play defense. Maybe im just being crazy!

Stan. People are not saying that they would not want him. They are saying that as it draws more ominous that he does not want to re-sign, then we might as well look at trying to get something for him in return. Unfortunately the ball is somewhat in Peppers court, so if he does not want to return then I simply do not see us tagging him and then keeping him.

Being a realist he is coming off a very good season, if he is not going to re-sign then it is a pretty good time o try and cash in on him. His market value is as high as it is going to get...

All I'm saying is that people should be looking at the reasons why Peppers may want to leave, and for the record, I'm not convinced either way. If he does in fact want to leave, what does that say about the management of this team, especially from a coaching standpoint? Players generally want to win a Super Bowl. Great players in particular. Dan Marino has even said that he would trade some or all of his passing records for a championship. So if I see a great player that wants to leave ANY organization, in any sport, and money doesn't really seem to be the overriding factor, I tend to look at the management structure and wonder what they must be doing, or not doing, to cause this line of thinking.

My thoughts exactly. Could it be he is simply not happy with the way the defense is run? Does not buy into the philosophy? Considering we were close to the superbowl leaving this team for another team to win does not fit the reason. He has stated repeatedly it is not about the money. That leaves that he does not like coaching, or that he does not want to live in Carolina anymore. Take your pick.

Were we close to the Super Bowl? We not only lost our first post season game but we got absolutely destroyed. The only reasonable conclusion I can come to (if Peppers really does want to leave), is that he wants to be part of a defensive scheme that allows him as well as others to thrive. I think defensive players for the most part prefer an attacking style of defense. Our defense is predicated on a hope that the offensive unit they are facing will make mistakes. That can't be a very fun defense to be a part of...I know it sure as hell isn't fun to watch.

With a record 12-4 and only 4 teams going further in the playoffs than us, then yes I would say that is close to the superbowl. I did not say close to winning it but the simple fact is not many teams won as many games as us this season and only 4 went further than us. So by your logic he would only be interested in the Eagles, Steelers, Cards and Ravens?

Regardless we agree on the same concept. That he may well disagree with the defensive scheme and philosophy. Therefore he may only stay if people are let go...

I completely agree that players want an aggresive and fun team to play for. When it is your job it does take some of the fun out of it and that is when players can lose concentration and discipline or even work ethic. It is very hard to get yourself motivated when you are doing something you simply do not believe in. That is why I hate our scheme so much. Not only does it leave our guys knackered and destroyed come the end of the season, but it just saps the enthusiasm out of the players as the opposition methodically plots its way down the field. Problem is I can't see Fox going and the scheme used is an extension of his philosophy, so I can't see things changing even if we have a new DC.
